Help! Spellbinding needs a new home! — Tilde.cafe had generously provided a home for Spellbinding, but they are shutting down(?) Can you spare a tiny bit of resources to host it? Spellbinding is a C-based CGI script that uses absolutely minimal resources to provide the game experience to a couple of dozen players daily. If you have a stable server and wanto to help, I and the players would greatly appreciate it. Also, if you know of a good, stable free provider with CGI, please let me know.

Sleep hacking — I am going to try polyphasic sleep, after reading and watching a few videos. After the last 3-hour time-zone shift I never fully recovered a good sleep cycle. I find myself waking up at 4AM, forcing myself to go back to sleep, and waking again around 9 or 10, very tired and barely awake all day. So I think it will be a breeze to just get up and take a 20-min nap or two.

Trying to run again... — I stopped running maybe a year ago, when my right foot started hurting constantly. After a few months of being unable to walk without pain, I got myself some Hokkas and the pain went away. Unfortunately I got scared out of running, and got on the trajectory of turning into a fat turd. So I started running again. USB... The Golden Age Is Over — I was never a big fan of USB, but for a while things were good. You could get a USB device, plug it into your computer's USB port using a USB cable, and things worked. Port Of Miami Explosion -- thoughts on safety — I've complained a lot about the fire hazards of lithium batteries. Recently a container with several EVs exploded in the port of Miami. The most likely cause is a Tesla that was previously flooded with salt water. However all the cars in the container (4, I think) had some damage, and very minor damage such as a fender bender can crack the battery case, turning a car into a timebomb. Weird Car Ads — I just saw an insanely stupid Volvo ad, which seems to imply that its 'advanced sensing technology' identifies when a woman becomes pregnant. I don't know what kind of ***theads create car ads these days, and I thought that after that unfortunate Jaguar ad fiasco they would learn something, but apparently no. Drove across the US again... — I think it's my ninth time. Kind of lost track of how many times I've done it now. It's pretty easy now, and I kind of look forward to the solitude and the simplicity of the goal: reach the destination alive... I did it in two and a half days, with three sleep breaks (between two and six hours of sleep) right in the back of my minivan, on a pretty comfortable roll-up mattress. Old coins — I've been trying to figure out why I tend to hoard old coins. Not that old - 70's and 80's quarters mostly (although I do have an envelope full of pre-1965 silver coins too). There is a pile next to the monitor. I move them around and 'stim', I suppose, twiddling them between my fingers. Long before 'stimming' was a thing, I was doing it with British pound coins, but I haven't had any in years, so it's quarters for now. Drove across the US — This time, at a leisurely pace, two sleep stops (4 hours and 5 hours) and made it in 2 1/2 days. Google auto still really sucks. I ran through 2GB in a few hours streaming podcasts, and had to stop. Screw the cloud. Radios without a tuning knob really suck.
