I am going to mercilessly shit on centrists for handing my country over to fascists until the day I die.

Buckle up and practice your gulps.

I am not going to say don't panic, if panicking helps you launch into action, sure, panic.

I mean, we are fucked so definitely don't wait if panicking was what you had on the agenda to get done before everything falls apart!

To prepare for the coming US presidency please practice your gulps ahead of time.

We are going to do a lot of gulping, so make sure you are ready to go in that department, check in with your doctor if your gulps make any strange noises or are painful (physically painful, not talking about the psychic damage having just occurred that caused you to gulp).

You don't want your first gulp in a year to be at 3:30am when the U.S. government smashes down your life to shit on it.

Proactively gulp.

If Thomas Pynchon wasn't old as shit, the novel he would have written about this time would most certainly be focused on all the possibilities that were in the air for a moment during Covid within the empire... and how we live in a stolen future co-opted from the timeline that proceeded positively from that moment.

Pynchon would of course get lots of mileage out of the fact that we are still IN Covid even as we see it as history in the past.

would this be dangerous?

.. imagine if we just handed out handguns and ar-15s to people who were less trained and probably a lot more prone to violence... but yes I would only suggest this if it was kept under an emergency lock and key in a lockbox under the supervision of the ranking firefighter.

Also a firefighter decked out in fire safety gear near a fire engine shouldering a shotgun to shoot down a drone is going to be immediately understood NOT as an escalation unlike a cop doing so.

Not saying this is a good idea anywhere that hasn't chosen the "chaotic evil" option for every aspect of gun control, but here in the US I think we should start equipping firetrucks with a 20 gauge shotgun with birdshot so if they are in an emergency and a drone is impeding their ability to mitigate a dangerous unfolding natural disaster they can shoot it down.

(also only public firefighters, ughh "private firefighters" sums up 2020s US doesn't it)

Do we really need to teach future generations of US kids recent US history and facts and "actually what happened" or should part of turning 18 be that your parents sit down with you, offer you a massive bong rip and put on Veep?

Later when you are crying because yes this is precisely the hellscape we live in your parents bring you a cozy blanket and a ice cream sandwich.

I think the important thing is it would save a lot of money

if you are a leftist USian tired of rich conservatives ruining your city consider moving to Olympia WA.

We have a totally free bus system. No subsized bus card you have to sign up for, no means testing, no massive state college subsidizing bus fares (which is cool, just a more common route to free mass transit in us and isnt as radical) and no app, you just simply walk on the bus and sit down.

If you hate conservatives and want to leave your US hometown, consider Olympia WA!

@sinvega

have you heard of Endgame Road To Salvation? I know I know... it is another zombies game but there are other monsters too...

imagine a game just focused on a caravan roleplay run in Cataclysm dda where you try to road trip as far as you can in a direction that plays and kind of looks like gta san andreas (with better/modern car and onfoot controls) but with more twisted metal/vigilante 8 style car combat.

It has splitscreen too!

If your video game has splitscreen co-op and you have to functionally unlock it after a lengthy tutorial that doesn't make it clear how long it will be until the splitscreen partner can join in please understand that your game for all intents and purposes does not have splitscreen support except in very niche cases where both players equally want to dive in to play a specific game they are already sold on being fun..

I think it is CRITICAL to western literature to decenter men who write depressing dense books obsessed with war and masculine power but Thomas Pynchon is one of the few characters of that type who has always been willing to betray his status and class to smear shit all over the dangerous lies at the heart of western imperialism and capitalism.

You know, Gravity's Rainbow and Thomas Pynchon get frequently thrown in with the likes of Infinite Jest and shit, and I am not going to say TP doesn't deserve a lot of criticism... but from a literary perspective we are living almost precisely in the future Gravity's Rainbow was pointing out, so what if it pointed it out in a crass way while on acid.

The difference is that for a really aggressive turn where you are also concerned about losing altitude, it is better to cant the helicopter up and turn into the gyroscopic plane of the rotors. It is like leaning into a turn on a bicycle just... in a more confusing form. In this way the main rotors take on the brunt of the acceleration force to pull the helicopter's mass through the turn instead of putting everything on the tail rotor to maintain control.

you can totally fly a quad like that tho

I didn't realize that you can pretty much fly a quad like a massive helicopter with a lot of inertia, you can also fly a quad in more aggressive ways a large helicopter could never do of course but flying a quad like a big helicopter just leads to a smooth flying style which is perfectly fine for learning to fly.

a racing quad in a simulator can rip back and forth on the yaw axis in a way that if you try to do in any semi-realistic arcade helicopter game leads quickly to loss of control.

I have wanted to try a quadcopter simulator for a long time but honestly I have been a bit intimidated and wasn't excited to discover nice gamepad joysticks weren't capable of flying a quad in a simulator.

20 minutes into Liftoff on my steamdeck, I am erractically zooming around in 3D mode and I realize this is like flying a BF2/3/4 helicopter but with way more agility to power your way of hairy situations and nobody is even shooting at you (or insulting you in chat).

Video games are weird.

I wanted to see the future so I previewed web4.0 and web5.0 to get a taste, meh more of the same I thought. I took a bite out of my pie and suddenly it hit me, the future isn't just bigger numbers it is also new kinds of numbers so now I am trying Web*sqrt(-1).

Honestly so much better than the web we are on now! It goes in cycles too and can briefly appear to be like current gen webs (web2.3 for example) it is very cool!

See you there!

Look out for my incoming linkedin blog about it!

The cancerous reification of the unquestionable reality of "attention span" and that social media/smart phones are destroying it reminds me of experiencing U.S society in the wake of 9/11 a whole platform of ideas about Islam, terrorism, threats, and civil liberties suddenly became true and unquestionable as if they were precise descriptions of gravity or chemical reactions that were backed up by decades of research.

As someone who has little power over what and for how long I can "pay attention" to things, the truth that this dragon is a total mirage or rather a thin disguise draped over the ongoing theft of the commons by the 1%... is obvious to me, but only because I have spent a good chunk of my life trying to believe the human mind worked like that too and it never got me anywhere but hating myself.

Trust me, I am an expert.
