The cancerous reification of the unquestionable reality of "attention span" and that social media/smart phones are destroying it reminds me of experiencing U.S society in the wake of 9/11 a whole platform of ideas about Islam, terrorism, threats, and civil liberties suddenly became true and unquestionable as if they were precise descriptions of gravity or chemical reactions that were backed up by decades of research.
