@indubitablyodin I'm just reading a very good book called 9 Wonder Words by Lucy Turner, and she discusses this. Chapter two talks about how a country full of violence, hate and terror turned a corner, as the language itself turned to be more positive.

Because they didn’t give in, and to be fair, because a lot of fat cats figured that the felon would be their ticket to more power.

And money does give you a fair amount of insulation against despair.

This is a call for us on the left to do the same.
