Sometimes, I just don't understand money.

OK, I get that we're A) supposed to look at trendlines and B) the point for investors is not profit but growth, but it's astounding to me that $7 billion in profit can be considered terrible.

[#]Github is down. My workflow is disrupted. Suddenly I am a being that exists outside of a project and dozens of issues. My thoughts can go where they will.

This is uncomfortable. Let me back in.

As I read this, "maintaining and enhancing your monitoring experience" means "you have to pay to see monitoring data".

Time to try the open source version...

My reaction when I see all the lefties here fighting each other. 😮‍💨

Are you impacted, either directly or indirectly, by the Trump admin's pause on IRA or foreign aid funding?

(By "indirectly" I mean that you know/work with someone impacted by the freeze.)

TLDR I think the decision to switch to #NPR as my main news source was a good one.

I think I am less aware now of events as they happen. For example, the whole #Colombia/US episode passed me by. I saw someone share the Colombian president's X post, thought, "that's odd, I wonder what's happening?" and didn't find out until this morning, when apparently the event had passed.

I spend less time thinking about the news. I am frequently upset by the stories I read or hear. I think I'm still getting the major events as they come... but I get them once, not seven times a day.

READ THIS PITCH FOR "IRON WIDOW"

"Pacific Rim meets The Handmaid’s Tale in this blend of Chinese history and mecha science fiction for YA readers.

The boys of Huaxia dream of pairing up with girls to pilot Chrysalises, giant transforming robots that can battle the mecha aliens that lurk beyond the Great Wall. It doesn’t matter that the girls often die from the mental strain."

This book is ultimately about hope, despair, and action in the climate crisis, but I'll be damned if I can't talk about how Sam is the GOAT. It's my book! I can do what I want!

Today I'm writing the section about Sam in the black lands, and how he holds on to hope the longest in what is arguably the darkest road.

Sam is just... he's just the best, you know? He is utterly, utterly devoted to Frodo. Every part of him to his bones loves Frodo. And he does everything in his power to help him, sacrificing water, food. He carries him on his back up a god damn mountain. He expends the last of his strength and will to get him to his goal.
