Toot

It seems worthwhile to occasionally pay attention to the ground, even in places that appear uninteresting. To be honest, I wasn’t exactly mindful at the time - though I did notice it. Anyway, I was deep in thought, walking along some dull asphalt, when my eyes landed on those flattened leaves. For the rest of the walk, I couldn’t think of anything else. Is this a subject worth capturing? Isn’t it ugly because of the asphalt?

Armed with my “proper” camera, I went back the next day to take pictures - turning a few heads in the process, as if I were documenting potholes. :-) On the day after that, I went again, hoping to find a nice layer of frost on the leaves and ground. All just to photograph dead, flattened leaves on asphalt. Crazy, but beautiful!

@Vulpy These are great! The copper and charcoal are a nice color combination.

@Vulpy Crazy? Maybe. All good photographers should be a little bit. But these images (especially the first) are more than beautiful. They are gorgeous art. I love them.

@haraldhux@photog.social Thanks! From the outside, one might look a bit odd, I suppose. 😄

@Vulpy

They look just like trees. Recursive Mandelbrot at work. In nature.

@hairylarry@gamerplus.org Yes, exactly! Nature’s cheeky little fractal. If you zoom in far enough, you might spot a mini version of me photographing the leaf! 🙃

@Vulpy My initial interpretation of these were beautiful autumn trees floating in starscapes

@nickdrawthing@dice.camp I love that idea, and I had the same thought myself. The salt on the ground really adds to that cosmic vibe.

@Vulpy I think these are swell. And the backdrop makes an interesting, textured, dark backdrop with a little bit of sparkle and dimension.
