Confession #328 of a long-time royal watcher.
There's one thing I miss about the late Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. His sharp tongue. For example, this is what the royal second fiddle said upon leaving a plane, when asked by a particularly unimaginative journalist what the flight was like:
"And how was your flight, sir?"
"Have you ever been on an aeroplane?"
"Yes."
"Well, it was like that."
Anyway, here's a picture taken out a plane window in 2012, using the Retro Phone app on an HTC Sensation... a phone possesing a battery life so short it would die faster than a cordless Magic Wand.

Okay, here's 22 seconds of my life standing where you aren't supposed to stand underneath a giant ferris wheel. I can't decide whether I like the picture or not, but it was fun to take.

Yes, that's me. Taken in 2016 by my then-boyfriend, now-husband @studiochris. I was photographing geese. God knows why.
About that haircut: when I turned 57, I had a midlife crisis and got myself a mohawk. And I kept that haircut for a full decade, growing it out only when I needed to visit my mother back east, at which time I would grow it out because if my mother ever saw it she would suck the oxygen out of the room and people would die.

Other things you don't know about me...
Favorite movie: Babe
Favorite book(s): Tales of the City
Favorite Broadway musical: Camelot
What I want played at my funeral: Sibelius, Andante Festivo, Neeme Jรคrvi conducting. It's sad and truly magnificent.

The moon, rising directly behind one of the spires of St Paul's Catholic Church. Taken from our side deck.
I always assumed this alignment would occur every 28 days. But doing a little bit of poking around on the internet, it seems Earth's tilt shifts the moon's position in the sky on a 18.6 year cycle.
So don't expect another picture like this for a while.

Sometimes people ask me why I love San Francisco.
These are my people.

The view from the top of Golden Gate Heights, through a crystal ball, just before sunset.
I went back and forth on this. The crystal ball view of Golden Gate Park and the Avenues looks better if I flip the picture upside down. But flipping the picture makes the supporting base of rocks hang overhead... and that is disconcerting. Anyway, feel free to flip your phone upside down ๐

Noe Valley, today, 8:30am.
This was the view from our back deck. A heavy fog is blanketing the hillside and obscuring the sun.

Explaining my Polaroid problem further...
Of the 7 photos taken with this 8-pack, 5 had dark, un-developed or under-developed stripes covering the left side the photo. Some but not all of the photos had places where the emulsion turned brown.
Unrelated to the above, one of the 7 was so badly overexposed it was impossible to tell what I had photographed. It was a white mess.
On the other hand, yesterday's photo of the two chairs was in the middle of the pack... and it turned out okay. So I am not sure I can blame the age of the film for the problem.
The film pack was stored in the fridge for 4 months prior to use. The bad photos were taken over the course of the 3 weeks the film was in the camera, at room temperature, post refrigeration.
Bad film? Bad shutter? Dirty rollers (they were recently cleaned). Dunno. But considering all the other problems I've had with the camera (mostly severe over or under-exposure), I'm ready to give up.

Well it's too late for last month's #ShittyCameraChallenge but here's a picture from my Polaroid.
Add: this may be the final picture from that poor excuse for a camera. To be clear, this picture is okay. But the camera - or maybe the film - has been misfunctioning to the point where only 1 picture in an 8-pack ends up usable. I have 1 shot left in the current pack, then I'm done.

And we're off and running.
11:00 a.m. here. I made the bed, baked cookies, watered all the plants, made coffee, dusted the living room, paid some bills, chattered with a half dozen friends, and now I'm on the couch, listening to Tracy Chapman.
Fast Car. Moderately fast Bob.
