Be honest how often do you clean your whole home?

@Njord usually before any relatives visit, which is not that often

@Njord I vacuum (bi-weekly) and mop up basically monthly because I'm allergic to dustmite-- but I have too much stuff (I tend to do like a billion projects at once and finish about 10% of them) so it still always is a complete disaster :drgn_sparkle:

@Njord Depends on the room I'd say. Some need more cleaning than others.

@Njord Whole home does get cleaned yearly, but in one go?
No no no no no no.
Also, no.
Let's keep that sort of madness neatly spaced out.

@Njord @BigAngBlack I don’t think I have ever cleaned my whole home. That sounds daunting and impossible, especially with my disabilities. On the other hand, I certainly would not describe my home as a complete disaster. I just focus on one task at a time when it needs doing and one of us has the energy.

@Njord I have a bad case of dust allergy. If you want to clean a room more often here is a piece of advice :
Once it's easier to clean, it is easier to get to it and it takes a lot less time

One disabled spouse, three autistic kids, and the only one who regularly tries to clean also works two jobs in different time zones and runs all the errands....

non-snark answer: i have multiple handheld cordless vacuums which are used for a few seconds, as an when, a dozen tines a day; and this was a frickin' life-changing step compared to the tradition my parents taught of having "now we are Doing The Vacuuming", which is a terrible way to work imo

@erisceleste As a kid I hated that, while as an adult it's my preferred method.
The change was that as an adult I get to choose when it's vacuuming time, rather than having it chosen for me 😉

@Njord I have a schedule of rooms to clean on certain days. I never clean the whole house at once, but over a two week period every room gets cleaned.

@Njord what is this «clean» thing you speak of?
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from oblomov@sociale.network
@Njord Do you mean "clean" or "tidy"? I hire somebody to clean about half of it every two weeks - this is a fantastic investment, I highly recommend it. Tidy? Ha, never.

@Njord I have voted for "it is always immaculate" but there are some caveats:
A. not in my office, my office slowly grows to be a nightmare over like a month before I finally deal with it
B. It's because my partner is one of those "I can actually keep stuff tidy" people whose brains I cannot fathom the strength of

@Njord I have an (old) fancy handheld dyson with a charging station, so if it's too bad i grab it and vacuum the issue. So it's continually barely into disaster territory

@Njord
Every other week but it is not crazy deep cleaning.
Just hoover, mop every other time, bathroom clean, some dusting.
Super deep clean happens when we move so we get the deposit back. Usually includes windows but fuxk this current place and their slumlord owners rising rents every year...
