I don't lose sleep over it, but if I've unwittingly offended someone, I like to know how, and possibly correct my behavior and/or make amends if at all possible. In these cases however such path is precluded, meaning that I can't improve myself*.

• I'm assuming here that the offended party had a good reason to block, and said reason isn't in violation of some fundamental ethical principle, in which case fuck you too, honestly.

So let me get this right: #TikTok pulled the plug on US accounts before the #TikTokBan went into effect (#maliciousCompliance), with a message suggesting they would work with #Trump to solve the issue, and then a few hours later removed the block thanking the future president (who isn't actually in power yet) for acting to lift it?

This might have been almost credible if they hadn't mess up the timing so badly. But of course most of the Trump base won't care and will drink it up anyway.

Ogni volta che leggete un articolo sui #fallimenti dei #finanziamenti del #PNRR ricordatevi che i fondi ricevuti dall'#Italia sarebbero bastati ed avanzanti per avviare un progetto di #UBI (#UnconditionalBasicIncome, #RedditoDiBaseIncondizionato) da 250€/mese/persona che per l'economia avrebbe fatto molto piú di tutte le stronzate che si sono pensati. Già solo con quelli a fondo perduto (70G€) ci avremmo potuto fare 100€/mese/persona.

Despite this (a limitation that should be relatively easy to fix/change; there are probably more), I'm now actually considering spinning up an experimental personal #Epicyon instance. I think this is the first piece of #Fediverse software that has made me think it might be time to set up my own plaything. It probably won't be “right now” though, but only because I have way too much stuff in my hands at the moment and the last thing I need is experimenting with a new server software.

I browsed some random parts of the code for this and I think I spotted an issue already: Update (edit) message processing only compares the content and summary to see if anything actually changed, but I think the logic will potentially miss some stuff (changes in only one of the contentMap fields, change in the attachments or their description etc).

So I'm checking out #Epicyon https://libreserver.org/epicyon/ (which I discovered thanks to @atomicpoet), which might be just the kind of AP server I'm looking for. I delved into the code to check how it stores the data and it seems it's going with the “static files” approach over the DB used by basically anything else, and this is pretty much what I was hoping for (I'd be OK with something lightweight like sqlite to cache the metadata for speed, this one seems to use text for that too?)
