She... she just did it again. Amazing.

I love the way brains work sometimes.

We're playing Enshrouded (good co-op PvE game BTW!) and my wife was talking about the "hoefahray". The... what now? She said "you know - the bunny animals?"

Ohhhhh, well yes I can see how you could parse it that way, but I suspect...

Out of interest I tried every letter. These two were especially funny. And I checked - "proscriten" is not an actual word in English (it's sort of French).

I wonder if it's the accent? She of course says it correctly - "bluhn-t". A US person might say "blarn" with a long a, slight rhotic, and either a dropped t or change it into a soft d.

My wife called a place to sharpen her chainsaw because it has gone "blunt". They didn't understand the word "blunt", but also didn't offer an alternative word that meant "not sharp". Is this a word that is just not used in the US?

Tomorrow I am going to edit my backlog of racing videos and try very very hard not to engage with this moronic country.

Still boggles my mind that DaVinci Resolve is free. Such an awesome bit of kit - I don't use half of it, and yet... free! I have no idea how they plan to make money, but could every other company in the world please adopt that business plan?

The robocall I just got either deliberately added in the background noise of a busy call center to make it sound like I was actually being talked to by a minimum-wage drudge and not a robot. OR it actually was a minimum-wage drudge trying incredibly successfully to sound utterly inhuman in her recitation of the script. Honestly can't tell which it was. Or why.

We have a suet woodpecker feeder outside our kitchen window. "Woody Woodpecker" is modeled on a Pileated Woodpecker, and they come to the feeder often.

And let me tell you - you look into their eyes and 65 million years of dinosaur heritage smacks you right in the face. They absolutely remember when we were small furry rodents, and they won't let us forget it.

What I'm trying to say is - I completely relate to David Lynch's story.

Meanwhile the Wise Old Man (he's 18 now) looks on in bewilderment at this pair of total idiots who can't even learn to use the automatic water fountain. He's tried to teach them the ways of the world - he really has.

This is not the first time she's bitten her own tail. It's also not the first time she's blamed something random on her brother (he is actually completely innocent every time - he adores her and lets her push him around). I've had a lot of cats in my life, but these two are certainly the dumbest.

My girl cat is 4 years old but still likes to chase her tail. She just got so enthusiastic she actually bit it - hard! Then she screeched and ran out the room. Her brother thought something had attacked her and followed her to help. She assumed he'd bitten her tail, and fled even faster.

Bloody noisy tonight. We have the owls hooting their heads off from a nearby tree, and the coyotes who live at the bottom of the garden are screaming their chorus. During the day we get woodpeckers chiseling away at the trees.

One day I need to go visit the city center for a bit of peace and quiet.

My step-father, Giles Whittome, died recently. He was not himself an "online man" at all, but I have posted a few stories about him in the past - he was quite a character. Here are some links to just a few of his exploits:

Classifying people as "evil" does not, in any way, stop them doing what they want to do. What it does do, is stop you from understanding their motives long enough to figure out a way to stop them.

Like... yeah Zuck is an amoral robot. But if society forces him to do a thing, then he'll do it - and he did, for decades. But society has decided they didn't give a fuck. So why spend the money? And here we are. You can blame Zuck if you want. But the real fault is the 53% that voted in President Dickless. I don't know how to fix that. Sorry.

Moderation at Facebook has always been a massive problem. As an Oculus person I was never anywhere near it, but even so we kept hearing about the immense difficulties.

It was taken as read that of course they needed to do it, even though it gave the poor folks PTSD and caused endless problems. But you had to do it or the government and/or people would sue you to fuck. Ma Bell events.

But Musk/X proved that you know what - no, they don't care. At all. If it sucks, hit da bricks! So they did.
