The 2024.10 update is now live in the App Store!

What's new:

• Play Next is now available outside of playlists

• Changes now sync more quickly

• Added Import/Export OPML in settings

• Premium dark-mode app icon now has variants for iOS 18 home-screen tint modes

• Widget backgrounds are now dark if using the Premium dark-mode app icon

• Widgets now render correctly in color-tinted mode

• "Add URL" screen now has a button to manually show username/password fields

And 2024.10 includes these fixes:

• Small buttons on now-playing screen now have larger touch targets

• Fixed widgets sometimes missing artwork

• Fixed high storage usage in some conditions

• Fixed blue icons in search screen on iOS 18.1

• Fixed crash on Mac upon searching

• Fixed Mac file exports having ugly filenames

• Fixed clip-sharing failing if episode isn't playing

• Fixed the downloads icon being too big sometimes (Again! Differently this time.)

@overcastfm Is this the high storage use where a podcast will take up more space than the episodes total and the only way is to delete the whole podcast in Storage settings?

@overcastfm Thanks! Love the quick updates. I have an issue in the new version compared to the old one that I can't pick up and move multiple podcasts at the same time in a list to reorder. Is that a bug or intended or …?

@overcastfm since some time after the rewrite, the app keeps “forgetting” recent episodes. They are then ?deleted? and re-downloaded, which makes them inaccessible if there is no network access at that time. After they are redownloaded, the last synced play position is restored. That bug is extremely annoying.

@overcastfm Any updates on the continuing issues with Airplay?

Airplay 2 still seems to be mostly broken for me (cut-outs when opening/closing app, resuming after pause completely breaks the session, ...), and the Airplay 1 fallback mode is also unreliable at best.

I really appreciate the work you've put into the new updates (and I like the new design), but these issues make 50% of my podcast listening a pretty bad experience :(

@overcastfm Are you just not aware of the problem with smart playlist order not working at all? Or is there some difficulty fixing it? I’m just so surprised there have been so many releases with zero mention of this problem.

Am I the only one for whom this highlighted chapter selector does not work? It does nothing for me if I click a chapter in it, in an already playing episode; if clicked when stopped it starts playback but not necessarily from the clicked chapter. Have had no response from @overcastfm despite several mentions both here and in Testflight feedback.

thank you for adding this back; the absence of this feature had me on the verge of canceling my subscription. It's wild how unusable the app felt with this missing!

@overcastfm it’s hard to navigate to the “play next” menu from the title of an episode, especially if you have one-tap play on. Need to tap podcast, down arrow, three dots, then play next. It would be nice if it matched the Music app UI, tap and hold on an episode title to open to the menu containing play next.
