It’s not even that hard to go to Antarctica. I have a friend and colleague who worked there. Not exactly mystery sauce anymore. https://mstdn.social/@hkrn/113693968242010597

I've been using macs for 15+ years and only in the past year did I start using a clipboard manager, and I can't believe I never used one before. It's so useful. Just having a keyboard shortcut where you can see a list of the last 10 things you copied, and can arrow through the list to paste any of them is so so helpful.

One of my favourite bits – drummer hears song they’ve never heard with drum part removed and play whatever they want. This one is of a Rush song by a German drummer who’s never heard the very well-known Rush song before.

@viticci Not sure if you heard, but Dropbox now supports editing folders in place on iPad, and it works with Textastic app.

@ivory It would be super cool if there was a keyboard shortcut to go to 'newest unread post'. Ivory seems to know what this is. Sometimes when I open Ivory, I will start scrolling before it syncs the unread position. But then once it finishes syncing, Ivory will not forcibly switch your current position to newest unread post (unless you haven't already started scrolling). But once you get to the newest unread post, Ivory knows it because it will start to show the unread badge.

@ivory I often get weird syncing issues with Ivory especially on mac. Right now, if I switch from account A which is at the very top of the timeline, to account B, then immediately back to account A, account A is well in the past (right now, 2 hours in the past). I was getting the same yesterday. Is there a way to never switch to saved timeline position if it is earlier in the timeline than current local timeline position? I'm guessing this is somehow an iCloud issue.

VisionOS (haven’t tried) solves this with eye tracking by having the “screen” you’re looking at be the one where the cursor is controlling. I think I would prefer multiple monitors on the Mac if it used eye tracking to move cursor between screens, and it didn’t otherwise let you move the cursor between screens giving the borders back and making the cursor harder to lose. Someone (preferably Apple) should try to build a utility like this for the Mac. Should be easier than button level precision.

I hate using multi-monitor support on the Mac. I always visually lose where the cursor is. I especially hate the lack of cursor borders on the edges of the screens. It breaks the benefits of Fitts’ Law where controls on the edges have effectively infinite width making it much easy to hit a target close to the border. That’s basic navigation for me. Slam against the border then refine.

Speaking of Dave’s drumming, Songs For The Deaf is in my top 5 all time fav albums. I’ll never ever get tired of it.

I love this: a Juilliard Jazz Prof hears Nirvana for the first time and plays drums on the track (where the track he’s hearing has the drums removed). His conclusion is the correct one. Dave Grohl is a super funky drummer. Dave is like the hardcore version of Ringo. By playing the fills the same way every time, they become musical hooks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06xafivFSe4

$1/year is such a weird amount. It’s enough that most people won’t pay. But it’s not enough to make any money.
