From time to time, I hear opinions that Ohm's law should be dropped from the primary school curriculum. (I am very biased here, as my high school field of study was electrotechnics.) Let me just say: today I took an old, broken Christmas candlestick, replaced the bulbs with LEDs, added two resistors with a power switch, and used a random old 18V power supply (+ some wiring and soldering). All I needed was Ohm's law to calculate the resistor value correctly 😉 #ohm #electro #christmas #education

@sesivany Do you know about Organic Maps app? It is interesting to compare it with Osmand - Organic seems to be focused to simplicity and straight forward usage quite a lot. I remeber you shared a lot regarding OSM recently.

One of the best things regarding @openalt 2024 was meeting all the people from OpenStreetMap community. Now I am aware about SCEE (Street Complete Expert Edition), and I also didn't have a clue about @organicmaps app for Android, which looks very interesting (great UI and already with Android Auto support). Nice!

I am a really long time #firefox user (with exception of short experiment with Chrome, when it was released for the first time). But now, I feel more and more websites are optimized for Chromium-based browsers, and that reminds me the times of IE, as it was 20 years ago. Not only optimized, some functionality doesn't work properly, or doesn't work at all. I feel great pity about this.Therefore, I am starting to experiment with #vivaldi browser.

I have never been quite an "enthusiastic" WhatsApp user. I created an account because of some half-work related group in my previous job... and I closed the account some time after I left the job. But now, what truly fascinates me, is the number of people expecting it like the default option for communication. "Are you in our group? " is so often (annoying) question - "but we added you!" is the next phase... It sounds so familiar :-( #whatsapp

...and I was able to install FreeDOS there, thanks @freedosproject for the article regarding how to workaround the issue with LBA! Also, I wondered how to make work the USB driver to access my flashdrive, at the end, this part was very simple 😉

I recently upgraded to a ThinkPad T14 Gen 4 from a T14s Gen 1 as my work laptop. Yeah, the Ethernet port is back (!), but I can constantly hear the fan even when the laptop is almost idle. It's not as bad as the T23, T410 or R61 (aka the "airplane landing" sound), but still worse compared to the X220 or my previous T14s. Noise is obviously something laptop manufacturers aren't able to beat in 2024. Fascinating. #fan #thinkpad #noise

My recent weekend hobby project based on Atomic PI (an x86 board computer, 10-inch LCD and some DC-DC converters). Nice time to play a bit with soldering and woodwork 🙂 All of it is designed for a single purpose: to run FreeDOS! Hardware part is almost ready. Next step is to prepare Fedora as a host (with minimal GUI via i3) to run FreeDOS guest using QEMU 😉

Něco málo o starých hudebních CD, dohledávání původních vydání, remasterech, loudness war, ripování pod Linuxem do FLACu... A tak podobně 🙂 Tenhle článek vznikal hodně pozvolným tempem a po malých kouscích asi dva a půl roku, skoro nevěřím, že dospěl do finální verze. (Tím neříkám, že je to nějaké bravurní dílo, spíš jen to, že jsem rád, že je konečně hotový.) 😉
