It's so interesting to see the detailed decisions that went in the heads of some of the famous photographers when developing their film — "make this part slightly brighter, this one slightly darker, add a gradient there". And it's definitely something that photographers I've discussed it with do when prepping their raw images, even nowadays in digital format — it's not an arcane fine art retouching trick but something that could appear on anyone's wedding pictures when soliciting the help of a pro.

Bon j'ai enfin eu le temps de rattraper petit à petit #HibikeEuphonium juste avant la S3. C'était TROP COOL! Trop hâte de voir la suite maintenant!

Les BO de Ensemble Contest sont incroyables en plus, j'adore vraiment toute la bande son de cette série. Akito Matsuda a mis quelques petits arrangements pour des ensembles différents de musiques des précédentes saisons et films et c'est trop trop chouette.

(J'ai mis du temps, je voulais revoir les films et voir Ensemble Contest à un bon moment où je pouvais les apprécier, et à la fin de l'année dernière c'était pas évident à trouver.)

It's something I very rarely experience in video media because I almost never listen to content in languages I don't understand to some extent (en, fr, jp most of the time, with some de from time to time) so I can fill in blanks... but goddammit are MTL translations of books bad. Recently been looking at #HDR pictures, and it's interesting how much more "cut off" from the screen the look. As if somebody tore off a rectangular window to somewhere else out of the desktop surface it's displayed on. This doesn't really happen in SDR, where images look like they're "pasted" on the desktop most of the time.

I'm wondering how much this is linked to the fact that these HDR images are consistently much above the local adaptation (driven by how bright the desktop is), where AFAIK our visual system has a completely different perception than around/slightly below.
