EDIT: I'm going to use LetsEncrypt, DNS challenge, and then either configure Caddy to use DNS challenge, or switch to another proxy.
This will also work nicely with my VPN, so all's good there.

SSL/TLS question for folks.
I run a number of services inside my home network. Since they're all local, I run them without SSL/TLS, so plain http. The problem is modern browsers complain loudly when you use a non-encrypted service.
I can't use LetsEncrypt because the services are local only, not exposed to the Internet.
I could make a self-signed certificate, but that will cause some applications to fail since self-signed certs are generally frowned upon, and I can't easily add my CA certificate to every device in my home.
Do you run a homelab with web services? If so, how do you handle this problem.

For more than a year I've heard how awful Israel is in regards to the war in Gaza[1] and yet when Hamas has broken ceasefires, there's no criticism.
Now, on the verge of a peace, Hamas is delaying the ceasefire by not releasing the names of the hostages to be freed.
The accounts by the returned hostages of the situation the hostages live in is beyond monstrous, with every kind of violation imaginable, including torture, sexual violation in ways that are unspeakable and more.
Hamas continues to put not only the hostages but the Gazan people in continued danger.
I am not excusing any actions by Israel; I am talking about the situation in this specific moment.
This conflict could be over now. It could be over right now, if only Hamas would act.
[1] I often hear how awful Israel is, even when they're doing progressive things like gay rights, trans rights, free healthcare, free abortions, etc.

My favorite company to work with regarding media is by far Libro.fm.
In the evenings, my wife and I have been spending months ripping DVDs, and that's a huge pain in the butt, with figuring out which episode is which, renaming, re-encoding, etc.
All of this because the big companies won't offer DRM-free downloadable copies, even if you'd be more than happy to pay them.
With Libro.fm and audiobooks, I just buy the book and they offer me a way to download the files immediately. It means I can just buy my books quickly, drop them on a local folder, and I'm done.
I wish I could do that with TV, but at least with Libro.fm, I have a happy life around audiobooks. :)

I'm sicked at this, but it really does appear that Trump's threat to Hamas with "all hell to pay" has worked to finalize a ceasefire to this horrible conflict, though it's not over by any means.
I also think that Trump was likely able to get Bibi to move as well with a promise of something later down the line.
I'm also reading that cases brought against universities around antisemitism on campus are being resolved with settlements that include stronger protections for Jewish students.
Trump is dangerous, and the US is far worse off for him. At the same time, I can't deny that a ceasefire or a reduction of antisemitism on university campuses is a good thing.
I will not move to the US because of Trump, and at the same time I won't deny myself being able to celebrate some small positives.

I have two cats and I feed them in two bowls, one on the left and one on the right.
At some point, they both decided the right bowl is traif and refuse to eat from it.
If I move the bowl to the left side, they eat it, but this makes it very challenging when we leave for a day and leave out extra food.

In Israel, for years there have been regular (sometimes daily) protests against the right wing government, all throughout COVID, during terrorist attacks, and during war. Those protests spread throughout society, to the point where there was real talk of civil war over so-called "Judicial reform". The protests continue today over the hostages not being returned, over the devastation in Gaza, and the continued push to silence dissent.
I've heard every sort of insult one can imagine towards Israelis, and yet America is less than a week away from a leader with fascist aspirations, and I see no mass protests. Media and business have taken a knee, and there's no mass resistance movement.
Why is that? Where is the resistance to fascism?
Or is it just another case of a double standard?

Lots of things!
The idea of a semi-anonymized report is a choice. It has good parts and bad parts, but there are indeed other choices.
The forwarding could happen by local moderators. A report would come in, be evaluated, and then forwarded optionally.
There are many options. There's no reason for things to be limited to the way they are today.

One area of Mastodon safety that doesn't get much attention is the way that the reporting interface is abused.
When a report is forwarded to another server, it doesn't say what user created the report.
That allows hateful accounts to report people as a means of harassment, as in our case, Babka Social has users reported simply for being Jews.
The reports are blank, or else contain an either false or inflammatory statement about the user.
The users don't see it, but the admins and moderators do, and there's nothing we can do other than disable reporting from an instance- which we don't want to do because we want to ensure our users are good Fediverse citizens and we want reports when they're not.
This causes emotional strain on moderators and yet I've never heard anyone talk about this issue in a serious way.

Roku now offers "Live Channels", such as a Classic Dr. Who channel and a Red Green channel.
I's fun, but you can't pause the live channels. I realized that I haven't watched TV that doesn't offer pause for years! I had a TiVO back around 2003 that I modded with a "huge" (maybe 20gb?) hard drive, so I had plenty of TV to watch, and live TV could be paused as you watched.
Watching TV you can't pause and skip is so weird!
