The bridge is a birth defect. You cannot diet it/essential oil it/happy thought it/pray it away. The only way to fix it is very expensive open heart surgery that even with my current insurance, I cannot even begin to afford. Having spent five days in a cardiac ward with actual good insurance (capital health plan of Tallahassee), I know what that kind of thing costs. My share under a high-deductible plan which is my only option, would be at least $30K, probably closer to $50K or more.

Both orgs made money. Profit is allowed. It’s what you DO with the profit that’s different. No shareholders. The profit can only be spent in certain ways (including employee salaries.)
Now there is a mode called cost recovery, wherein profit is managed in a way that aims to have the overall business break even every year, but those can have operating reserves, etc.
However, that’s not required.

Also learn the difference between Nonprofit and Not-For-Profit. They are similar, but not the same.

As I’ve gotten older, I find that jocks are a little wary of you at first when you come into their spaces, but if you’re not a dick, and they see you putting in the work, they’re pretty cool.
