So since some folks can’t relate unless it’s “personal”, here, a post on what removing the ban on denying coverage for pre-existing conditions (in civilized countries, this is called a “medical history”) will do to someone you know in some way: me.
A few years back, I found out I have what is called a myocardial bridge. (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myocardial_bridge) Mine is pretty tiny, and as far as I know, has never really caused me problems.

The bridge is a birth defect. You cannot diet it/essential oil it/happy thought it/pray it away. The only way to fix it is very expensive open heart surgery that even with my current insurance, I cannot even begin to afford. Having spent five days in a cardiac ward with actual good insurance (capital health plan of Tallahassee), I know what that kind of thing costs. My share under a high-deductible plan which is my only option, would be at least $30K, probably closer to $50K or more.
