@jnl First, I am very sorry to hear that your family has had to deal with this. I, for one, appreciate that this didn't convince you that, therefore vaccines = evil. Still, it’s unfortunate that the negative side of “some will have to suffer but fewer than the alternative” effect of mass vaccination has hit you personally, and I have nothing but sympathy for you and yours in this.
I used to think it was just those ignorant yokels on “the right” that insisted on everything being simple and binary. Recently, I have realized that “the left” is just as bad if not worse at this. For the last few years, I have been kind of crawling my way out of the lefty cult-ish-ness where I found myself. I look back on some of the things I thought (and maybe even said) in the moment and am a bit embarrassed.
