@soypunk @kissane from a social political perspective it's most fundamentally an accountability-deflecting technology; it can serve as the sock puppet stretched over whatever loathsome policies the capitalist imperialists want. and they know that if they package it just right rhetorically, they can stepping-stone their way to calling it (the opaque decision making apparatus, of which the tech is in reality only a small part) "AGI", and it can be their new product empire.
