@IndyRichard For anyone who doesn't know, after the union of the crowns in 1603 and especially after the Act of Union in 1707, attempts were made to eradicate the very name "Scotland." The country was often officially called "North Britain. Army regiments officially changed their names from "Scots" to "North British." There was a North British Railway and a North British Hotel in Edinburgh. It was an attempt at cultural eradication and suppression, which BBC North Britain continues to this day.
