Am not in the least bit religious. A massive reason for my own lack of faith is having watched both of my children suffer from the pain of cancer. So it will come as no surprise that I am very suspicious of those who like to wave religion in our faces. Why for example do so many of our politicians make such a big play of their faith, making sure the cameras follow them?

Scotland is a colony. One of the final remnants of the British Empire. That same Empire which once ruled a quarter of the globe. The ruling classes are to this day steeped in the belief of the greatness and righteousness of an Empire, upon which the sun never set.
Asset stripping in the Empire generated huge wealth for these people.
Now think of Scotland. Our natural materials and wealth benefits the same ruling class. Why else do they hold Scotland so tightly?

Why do the vast majority of the TV, radio and paper media along with social media influencers all support the same point of view? Why do the views of billionaires get such attention when it seems clear that these people are not on the side of ordinary folk?
A few examples are love of the royals yet hatred for Harry and Meghan, massive support for Israel come what may, no choice other than capitalism and no to an independent Scotland.

Why do so many western leaders continue to support Israel giving them military and financial aid? Why is the Israeli Defence Force not designated as a terrorist group? Why are so many politicians seemingly terrified of Israel and what they might say?
The net result of the behaviour of countries such as mine is that Israel now thinks they can do whatever they please and there is no end to the killing and no fear on Israel's part that they will face sanction.

What is the alternative to a good work life balance? Working long hours for too little pay, suffering from stress with mental and physical health impacts. A good employer should be falling over themselves to have a good work/life balance for their staff. It seems that Brewdog is not such an employer.

What is Trump/Musk's second/first presidency going to look like for the rest of the world? More loony rhetoric, boosting the right all around the globe even threats to western democracies such as Greenland and Canada. All of this on top of existing bloodshed perpetuated by Israel, the Ukraine war, Yemen and more. I feel small and powerless right now. Right-wing extremism grows, racist politicians and business leaders are on the rise. The press applaud or look the other way. An example is that protests in support of Palestinians are ignored and the actions of Israel are sanitised. People in power feel remote from me. What they want never seems to match with what I want. Small and powerless but the voice of sanity must never be silenced however small that voice might seem. Don't roll over. Don't give up.

Today is the day that recipients of New Year Honours are awarded by the King. For me it is a list of people who have gone down massively in my estimation. It is like learning that one of your friends is a huge fan of the royals or London rule and thinks Brexit was a great idea. What a disappointment. There is a Shelter appeal running asking for donations. They tell us that over 159,000 children are homeless in England this winter. Aren't there billionaires living in England including the head of state and don't we have a Labour government which supposedly come from socialist roots? I have to ask what are these people doing to end homelessness? If answer is feck all then what is the point of billionaires, royalty and a Labour government?

This is an old cartoon which originally appeared in a Danish newspaper. The Israeli ambassador in Denmark threw toys out of the pram demanding cartoon be removed with an apology.
I don't get what it is about the Israeli state. Why are they so precious? Someone with much more talent than I have should draw another frame to this cartoon where the man on the floor is in a shell hole and a succession of rich western guests bring the dog expensive presents.

So Christmas Day is done. It one of those days when I feel on the outside. I didn't switch on the telly. I didn't even look to see what was on. It a day for middle of the road twaddle. Don't think about poverty, homelessness, climate change, needless deaths, wars or the rich and powerful insulated from the masses. Did anyone listen to Christmas messages from royalty or religious leaders or politicians? These people don't speak for me. I remain on the outside.
