I just also want it to be clear: while it's terrible and chilling that US agencies are removing information from their sites (especially like the CDC), often this information exists elsewhere. (Especially if it's scientifically accurate and part of the research record.)
For instance, the CDC has wiped info on contraception contraindications. Is the cdc the only source for contraception contraindications? No.
Because you can find it here. (See link.)
If you note what is disappearing, if you can, post where else the info can be found.
Let's not imply that this knowledge has been eradicated. That gives this administration too much power.
They can't eliminate knowledge. Only certain pathways to it.

@leapingwoman
I just got exasperated with all the panic.
Like, yeah, our dick govt has removed monkey pox information.
But you know who has it?
The WHO. Other centers of disease control. A library. Medical and scientific journals.

@DeliaChristina This is such a helpful reminder. Thank you.

@DeliaChristina Really the thing they're eliminating is government endorsement of it and that endorsement as a source of trust/provenance.
But this can have real world effects in how public institutions (even not at the federal level, and even outside the US) follow policy, since they may not be empowered (without us acting to enact changes) to treat other sources as trusted.

@DeliaChristina thank you for saying this. I felt people implying this acted on a sense of panic and I understand. But yeah archiving and persistently sharing all this is a way to go.

In addition to the reminder, we should be shoring up our own lists of peer reviewed sources and reputable primary research publication repositories anyhow. If we were relying solely on US govt. websites for our sources, we were missing out on a lot.
