@jensens Related to this https://trans-europe-planner.eu/ thing: I plan to go to the #ploneconf in Jyväskylä in train from Toulouse. I'm thinking that all those who plan to go by train could gradually join up along the journey. It could be fun 😀

@ebrehault I did not plan anything yet, but this sounds like an option to consider!

@MikeFromLFE weird, I just clicked on the link in the post right now and it works. perhaps temporary glitch?

@trans_europe_planner
I'll try again shortly

@trans_europe_planner Bizzare glitch at my end i think.
Loads fine in Chrome on my main Chromebook and in Firefox on my mobile phone, but will not load at all on either Firefox or Chrome on my 'travel' Chromebook,
I need to look into this because everything else seems to be working & loading fine (restart & pray!)
It looks like a great project and potentially extremely useful. Good luck with the project!

@trans_europe_planner that's great! I am dreaming of traveling from Graz or Vienna to Barcelona/Madrid by train.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from mcnknopp@wien.rocks
@mcnknopp That sounds like a fun trip, hopefully those cities will be supported soon!
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from trans_europe_planner@fosstodon.org
@trans_europe_planner @mcnknopp sííí , porfa 🙏 I've done the reverse route twice, loved it.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from Veza85UE@eupolicy.social
@Veza85UE @trans_europe_planner muy bien! What was your route? Barcelona - Paris (tgv), Paris - Vienna (nighttrain)?
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from mcnknopp@wien.rocks
@mcnknopp @trans_europe_planner insert weak_feeble.gif 😛 No, I spent two days in Lyon on the first trip as I'd never been, then did Lyon-Geneva-Zurich-Vienna.
Second trip was with a sleep in Marseille and no sightseeing as I'd been multiple times before, then early TER to Nice, Ventimiglia, full day sightseeing in Genova, night train to Salzburg, then Vienna and onwards to Transylvania.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from Veza85UE@eupolicy.social
@Veza85UE @trans_europe_planner wow, that sounds really great! I just want to go to Barcelona and Madrid, having only about 7-10 days "free" (having to small children and wife, waiting for me coming back from my selfish travel ... 😉).
Although... Did Vienna-Venice-Nice-Barcelona ones, as interrail, going further through Spain, Portugal and Morocco 🤩
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from mcnknopp@wien.rocks
@mcnknopp @trans_europe_planner Paris will do just fine in that case. :)

@trans_europe_planner good to hear. Maybe I'll find some time to help (but maybe not... /o\ )
This is clearly genius
Maybe I can help to pay some hardware somewhere outside of github ? 👼
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from Mindiell
@Mindiell At some point the tool will need a backend and that will be the time to host somewhere else, but that time has not come yet :-)

@trans_europe_planner Super Sache!
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from lbehm@chaos.social
@lbehm Ja das will ich auch, wäre auch super für's Deutschlandticket! Da muss jetzt einfach noch eine gute Menge Datenarbeit rein, damit man auch auf so Situationen wie du beschreibst reagieren kann.

@trans_europe_planner nice! When is the next data update/ upload planned? Any cooperation with #bahnexpert @marudor?
(Would be amazing to have the latest version from ÖBB and MAV, e.g. to get the direct train Munich-Budapest! Currently shows via Leipzig and Praha)

@trans_europe_planner That's really important UX that none of the off-the-shelf planning tools offer: the ability to make your own adjustments, breaks, etc. 👏👏👏
Instead of the basic "compute the fastest start-to-end route, no matter if there are 3 changes in the middle of the night, or if one leg costs twice more than another train 1h later".
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from cycling_on_rails@mastodon.social
@cycling_on_rails Yes, exactly! Thank you so much for your comment!
This tool was of course born out of my own frustration with those off-the-shelf planners, trying to get them to give me the journey I actually want, not the one that might on paper be the optimal one.
=> More informations about this toot | More toots from trans_europe_planner@fosstodon.org
@trans_europe_planner Hey, how hard to you think it could be to add Toulouse and Amsterdam? Because I’ve an upcoming train trip for which I could really use that planner 👉 👈.

@trans_europe_planner That is amazing, I wish I'd known this just 36 hours earlier as I was researching Frankfurt to London. That would have been great to compare the alternatives, as I can travel via Paris or via Brussels.
I would also like to see the other direction. In my case, via Paris seems better to London and via Brussels from London.
Hope you'll add Frankfurt before my next larger trip.

@trans_europe_planner I'm only slightly disappointed this has nothing to do with transness. In all seriousness, very exciting, looking forward to testing it!
For connection times -- do you know if there's a central place I can look up how late any line is likely to run, and adjust accordingly? It would be incredibly cool to be able to show buffer times with each leg of the journey somehow (but I realize that is a huge ask).

@iris I can see how the name would be confusing at first glance :-) As for the delays, for Germany there is https://bahnvorhersage.de/, unfortunately I don't know if there are similar projects for other countries.
