I think I’ve finally realized that it’s easier for Americans to be mad at me about their circumstances than to actually do anything about anything.

@Gte to be fair, it’s pretty easy to be mad at you.

@Gte Well they do have problems. Most of which are … other Americans

@Gte American excellence is effectively synonymous with nationalism, but a lot of Americans don’t want to admit that to themselves. I think many put too much trust in the system that has repeatedly failed them (and the world over). It is easier to be mad at any one person, because at this point... to do anything... well, it’s more than anyone is actually willing to do.

@Gte Americans see American companies totally differently from foreign entities, but—for whatever reason—they can’t seemingly understand why any other country feels the same way about American companies.
They trust the system so much—again—even when it fails them, and expect everyone else to too. I dunno. Being mad is all people feel like they can do. You might as well be their target, I think. In that way, why bother saying something we know will upset the crowd? I dunno where to go from here.

@louie @Gte @HollyGoDarkly
Americans are saturated with the message that rights and authorities are where they are and not that they can change.
Wealth and power have had their way so long that many Americans are effectively naive. The Inny in Severance.
Many still ask for their insurance to be better instead of ‘how is this different from tax’. Companies are supposedly efficient as they seek monopolies yet a government monopoly is inefficient?
No. It just doesn’t allow market exploitation.

@louie I’m not the Batman y’all deserve.
A complex system that is built upon grifts is always going to to land on the shoulders in someone unsuspecting.
What is paramount is the outcome. And the outcomes are demonstrably awful.
Which is to be expected.

@Gte I think because every possible outcome is awful, it feels impossible to do anything. Therefore, being angry is all people got.
Every action—that could swing this whole thing around—that doesn’t take several years is ...a bloody one. I think therein lies the rub. It’s a dangerous game to play. No one really is looking forward to playing it.

@Gte in fairness, being mad is what we’re best at, and most of are against improving things. 😟

@Gte American identity is built upon a belief in our excellence above all else. Any critique of that system is taken as an assault to our identity.
Self critique and reflection are not a big part of our national education process.
