I’m embarrassed to admit this took about two full days to make, so if it is even a tiny bit amusing to you that I spent that much time on it, please click the donate button at the bottom of the post.

(I’m sorry, but the donate button actually didn’t work at the time I originally posted it. Now it does. Sorry about that, if you tried! It works now.)

✍️ This may be the silliest post I’ve ever written.

But I had to figure out what the “most Mario” colors were. Follow me on this bizarre journey of useless discovery.

✍️ I can’t stop thinking about the philosophy that made Game Boy such a success. I think that same philosophy can be applied to so much more.

✍️ Ghost is giving people the ability to have custom fonts? Read•cv was bought by Perplexity? And is shutting down? Instagram is extending reels to 3 minutes? TikTok is shutting down? Wait, is it?

Platforms gonna platform. Instead of all this, what if—

I especially like the badge for Mantia.me, which has its characteristic image-masking. In the badge, it’s “Spaceship Earth Pan,” one of the wallpapers I released from the time.

(We didn’t have proper image masking back then. Instead, the logo was transparent.)

OK I realize I’ve made like four posts in the last week about retro 88x31 badges but— I decided they should probably live on a dedicated page.

And I made more, one for each of my previous websites, which I use next to any post that was previously published on one of those sites.

This morning, I made a pattern with ichō/ginkgo leaves, reminiscent of other traditional Japanese pattern motifs. Low contrast, chill, perfect for your phone or computer. (6K resolution of course!)

My question, I guess, is this: When do I have too many badges that I need to separate them into sections? And if I reach that point, have I just made too many buttons to exist here? They’re really fun to make, and I could do it forever, so ...how do I know when I’ve gone too far?

The burden of feedback shouldn't be on the creator alone to receive it well. In fact, lots of people don’t know how to give feedback well.

As we get increasingly more tired with social media companies who keep inventing problems, I’m still wondering why more people don’t have websites and RSS feeds. It’s the way out.
