I keep telling myself that cars were lighter then, but...

Does anyone recognize this lighthouse?
My grandfather (on the left) was a traveling Swedenborgian minister in the US. Based on what I know this could be anywhere from Ohio to Nova Scotia. He went to Florida as well, but that seems less likely.
Given the ferry and distance, something inland seems likely.

@nazgul I've seen some pretty modern videos of impressively large trucks squeezed on to amazingly small boats/ferries in various places that aren't the US. I suspect that in the global south you can find setups like that today.

@nazgul There are some incredibly small ferry runs in Scotland and they've got a ton of lighthouses. They've got a turntable ferry still operating from Glenelg to Skye. Would have loved to have taken it, but it shuts down in October, so I had to take the bridge :(

@nazgul Probably the smallest ferries I've taken have been from Mull to Iona, the ferry across the Kyles of Bute and the ferry from Tarbert. Some, like the Iona ferry cross very rough water, even though the trip is short.

@nazgul I can think of a couple lighthouses that this scene may fit, the rolling hills, possible old ferry, etc.
Any clues regarding what country, ocean, etc that it is most likely to be from?

@Jeff Sorry. I should have added clues. I'll edit.

@nazgul Well, if it could be NS, then it kind of reminds me of the Baddeck lighthouse, looking from the south side of the lake. I think that Beinn Bhreagh may have still been operating at the time of the photo, and that would be where the ferry would be coming from. I don't think Washabuck had a ferry but I could ask around.

@Jeff That got me searching and I think I found it. And it had a passenger ferry.
I just need a photo from across the water to see if the hills match up.

P.S. Nice domain name. I wouldn't have recognized it but for Stan Rogers. :)

@nazgul High rolling hills like that meeting water makes me think of the Saint Lawrence near Cap Chat, or the Hudson River Valley.

@nazgul Lighter? They were solid metal...not like the mix of aluminican and plastic they are now.
