Same for Canada Post. I want to see them start to open more permanent post offices, one in every community of a couple hundred people.
Then, in every province, partner with Credit Unions to offer banking services in every community. Give the opportunity to everyone to have a free checking account and high-interest savings. The barebones to reduce the un-banked to zero.
If they don't have a stable address, let it be the PO Box.

I would like to see a platform from the Liberal leader where the CBC is so well funded, that it will stop using Google and international advertising data harvesting networks.
Ensure that every town in Canada with at least 10,000 people get a permanent office with at least 2 correspondents.

There was a DOS game that I played in the late 90s. It was something like Risk where you would have turns and try to defeat the other's army.
I can't find it, or remember anything else.
Any ideas?

Something I think we, as normies, should borrow from the old guard of the open source community, is the liberal use of mailing lists. Email is the old school fediverse, and everyone has an email client, and getting more email accounts is very straightfoward.
I think it's even better than bulletin boards, and definetly better than Facebook Groups

Or if not Yacy, a personal/local search engine for a home intranet?

Last question, probably for the week because work calls in the morning, but do I know anyone that has installed Yacy for local, intranet search, and/or as a personal search engine?

I have a likely odd question, but here we go.
Has anyone come across a way, or a tutorial, or blog, etc about how one would create a TUI for a django application that is running on a local machine, or interface with one running on a server?
I have an idea for a project that I will want to access from anywhere, but also would like to keep it out of a browser for most cases. If used, it will be touched multiple times a day.

I'm looking for a Canadian owned and operated cloud services company where I can test out an inexpensive VPS for a small personal project. Preferrably with datacentre in a major centre like Montreal or Toronto. My preferred supplier is for most things are here in Halifax, which doesn't help for this particular use case.
I have already tried OVH, and it’s been a bad first impression.
Edit: My go-to host has servers in Montreal, so I have went with them for the test

If you are ultra paranoid, make sure you turn off and on your phone at least once a day. A lot of “bad” software lives in ram only, turning off flushes the ram and the access.

I’ve tried a couple times to set up a #matrix server. It may be time to give #xmpp a try again.

@jake I just found this post of yours from a few years ago - https://theorangeone.net/posts/exposing-your-homelab/
I wondering if you have come across a good tutorial/example on how to implement a VPN Gateway using Headscale? I currently do the old faithful DDNS/reverse proxy method, but would like to obfuscate my home IP for a little added privacy.

Something I've been looking for are curated RSS lists (preferrably in OPML format) that I can add to my daily reading, keeping me on top of what's important and off corporate social media.
Well, today I decided to publish my own lists, and you can find the links here - https://jeffmackinnon.com/RSS.html
If there are blogs, news sites, etc that you want to share too, reply here or post a comment there. I'm especially interested in full-text feeds on what's happening in Canada.

Before I dig into it, at all, what does my corner of the fediverse think about #Drupal in 2025? I'm doing some investigating to determine if it is a solution for a small community project that I'm pondering.
In 2023 I would have installed Wordpress with bbPress and an events plugin, but this is 2025, and we all know what uncertainty that photomatt has introduced into that ecosystem.
