Having a child with a drivers license is so handy. We walked to the supermarket to get dinner, arrived back "home", and remembered we forgot some essentials for dinner (tomato sauce and balsamic vinegar (to make salad dressing)).

So I started the BBQ while Miss 17 drove back to the supermarket.

@puck very handy indeed! We're just starting on that adventure ourselves. Mr 16 is dead keen on learning a (soon-to-be-obsolete) manual transmission, so that's been fun.

@puck Good on you both! Our manual car has been nursed along for quite a few years after it lost all commercial value - it's a '92 Subaru Legacy which looks a bit rough but is in very good repair... It's quite nice having an old dunger to go to the lumber yard or tip...

@puck @ThisCJ it's not hard to learn the basics, but it's hard to make it second nature, which is what it has to be to allow a driver to pay full attention to the world outside the car...
