The Wombat lives across the seas
Among the far antipodes
He may make his meal of nuts and berries
Or maybe even missionaries
His distant habitat precludes
A detailed knowledge of his moods
But I would not engage a wombat
Unarmed, in mortal combat

I just stepped outside. The starfield is amazing, I could see everything with the naked eye. Except that comet. I’ve still never seen one of those. Kahoutek, anyone?

Can’t go past this one for #JukeboxFridayNight theme of #Trouble:
Steely Dan’s first hit from Can’t Buy A Thrill, called Do It Again. The whole lyric is amazing, but here’s a sample:
Then you love a little wild one
And she brings you only sorrow
All the time you know she's smiling
You'll be on your knees tomorrow, yeah
You go back, Jack
Do it again
Wheel turnin' round and round
You go back, Jack
Do it again

Psycho killer? Qu-est que c’est? F-f-f-fire, f-f-fire, fire, fire
Better run, run, run, run, run away!
Talking Heads with Psycho Killer. ( I saw them perform this when it came out.)

The Rose, written by Amanda McBroom and made famous by Bette Midler

Far beneath the bitter snows
Lies the seed that with the sun's love
In the spring becomes the rose

The permanent (free!) exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery entitled Paths to Modernity is really, really stunning. It’s the private collection of a US couple called the Robertsons, who gifted it it to Toi O Tamaki on condition that it is permanently on display for free. It is an amazing collection of European masters, easily the best I have seen in NZ. The impact is like going to Musée d’Orsay or the Tate Gallery. If you get the chance and have any appreciation of art, I suggest you see it.
