Having a child with a drivers license is so handy. We walked to the supermarket to get dinner, arrived back "home", and remembered we forgot some essentials for dinner (tomato sauce and balsamic vinegar (to make salad dressing)).

So I started the BBQ while Miss 17 drove back to the supermarket.

Large pack of corn chips reckons there are 11.1 serves in the pack. About 11 chips. Uh, don't think so for nachos.

But, it was nice having everything turn back on quickly - even if I then have to quickly turn off a heat pump and unplug the car!

First power cut with the whole house battery system. Unfortunately there was no seamless cut over, power goes out for about 5 seconds then comes back on. But when the grid comes back, it isn't noticeable. Definitely still need UPSes for the critical gear.

Looking forward to when I can put in some automation to stop charging the car when on battery only.

I received this message for my groceries delivery. And I thought, "gee, they stuffed this one up". But no, the van was parked outside when I looked out the window.

Funnily enough I often get the txt saying the driver is 10 minutes away, and then he pulls up.

Yak shaving is such a pain.

I thought I'd better test some functionality, but the Lets Encrypt cert on my MythTV server has expired. I'd better fix that first...

(I've already disabled the forced HTTP -> HTTPS for my external gitweb server because fixing TLS on that is a bit more involved.)

I spotted today that my #mythtv-status package was failing to build from source in #Debian. This has caused me to spend some time finishing off a major change to how it is installed, split out the Debian packaging to a different repo (using git-buildpackage).

While having upstream (me) and Debian (also me) code in different repositories will cause over head (for me), it is probably better in general.

Probably tomorrow I'll release the tarball, .deb and upload the new packaging repo to Salsa.

I was a bit surprised to find the fan wasn't running this morning. Checked the Node-Red flow and found that the outside humidity is 73%. Turns out the logic is working as it should.

Successful day.

Finished installing an extractor fan in my basement to battle damp. And I've plumbed it into Node-Red (first real use of NR) to control it based on time of day and internal/external humidity. This involved deploying an ESPHome device (I'd already made it), a Xiaomi Bluetooth gadget, and fixing TLS for my MQTT broker.

Tomorrow I'll look into turning off the fan if the TV is being used (the fan is bit noisy in the lounge as it is under the lounge floor).

Miss17 told me today that her BF throws the extra bits of LEGO that come in sets out. I'm horrified, HORRIFIED.

The explanation is he has no box(es) of random bits.

She has started bringing his left overs home to add to our collection.

Heh, a downside of using work chat in my web browser? The "Most Visited" drop down in Firefox is filled up with different chat rooms.

Today was Mr12's birthday party (almost 13). He set up an electric guitar and bass in his bedroom with his e-drums, which also has an old organ. When we brought the kids to my place they went into his bedroom and the musicians in the group all went "yeah!" and started jamming.

The non-musicians were a bit bored. Oh well.

I have a consultation with a doctor on Friday. This doctor must have an incredible number of no shows.

I had a TXT a month ago demanding that I urgently call their rooms to confirm.

I had a TXT last week asking me to reply YES/NO that I'd be attending.

I had a TXT just now asking me to reply YES/NO that I'd be attending.

I of course called, and replied Yes to both TXTs.

Wow.

So, if I'm not in my house, and have most of the unneeded things turned off, it can run on only solar and battery. No real grid power imported since 06:30 on Sunday (0.6kWh imported).

If I'm in the house, and using things/cooking etc then the 10kWh battery is at 15% a few hours after the sun goes low enough that my panels stop producing.

@thomasbeagle @aimee Hey, as current and ex Carterton folks, any recommendations for a pub (in or nearish) Carterton that I can take my Miss17 to for dinner Sunday or Monday?

(I'm also open to recommendations from others!)

Now I feel like crap. Mr15 likes to watch a TV episode with me before he goes to bed. Tonight I said no as it was too late.

I came out to the lounge to find he'd set up the the TV, a glass of water, and some snacks.

Looking at a recipe and it calls for 14 tablespoons of an ingredient. I feel they're using the wrong unit here.

Yes, it is from an USA site. Why do you ask?

@eythian @phs I hadn't heard of Mixxx. Installed and it works with this VCM-100 nicely. Now to make a mapping for my Oxygen Pro Mini as well.

Thank you!
