Another question for #Bluesky users that are also on #mastodon: are you using the bridge or an app like Openvibe? I’m trying to understand the advantages one way or another.

@archivist_Liz by bridge you mean bridgy fed? I'm using it but I don't like it because I can't interact with Bluesky users unless they're also using bridgy fed. I'm also using Openvibe, but I found myself checking it less. I'm considering Buffer or some other cross-posting tools. Maybe when I'm live-posting during conferences.

@joshuatj Yes, bridgy fed. Ok, good point, I don’t see lots of people using it. Checking Openvibe yes because you prefer to go into each app individually or you have them open in separate tabs? Openvibe at least sounds appealing because I wouldn’t need so many apps 😩

@archivist_Liz re:open vibe. Not really. I use mobile apps mostly. I guess it's just a force of habit. And there's nothing much on Bluesky for me yet because I haven't done the follows properly. Maybe I just need to take the time to build my Bluesky network to make it worthwhile. But I don't see how Bluesky is going to be able to prevent itself from evolving into another late-stage-Twitter-like nightmare. So I'm hesitant to invest too much at this point.

@joshuatj That makes a lot of sense. I’m also not even remotely optimistic about Bluesky, hence looking for ways to be able to read without investing too much or putting myself out there.

@archivist_Liz There is also Croissant, a simple macOS and iOS app that lets you post to both networks at once. https://croissantapp.com/

@archivist_Liz I haven’t used either app yet, but on quick look it seems Openvibe is more powerful (for reading, not just posting), but has fewer users than Croissant, and lower ratings in the app store.
