Are there any iPhone apps for writing posts for self-hosted Wordpress sites?

@ThermiteBeGiants I have used the official Wordpress app for this. Unless they disabled self-hosted instances?

@futzle @ThermiteBeGiants The Jetpack app, and the WordPress app should both support self-hosted sites. I use the former for mine.

@allrite @futzle ah, I assumed there was lock-in to Wordpress.com of some kind.

@ThermiteBeGiants @futzle No, and I believe that the WordPress app doesn't require Jetpack to be installed.

I have had a few synching issues previously, although that's more a reflection of my host, I think.

@allrite @ThermiteBeGiants @futzle The only thing with using the wordpress app is that writing directly into the CMS is bad practice.

@MattHatton @ThermiteBeGiants @futzle If it's your own personal blog I think it's okay. You can also use the app offline, which is what I often do (eg, when flying).

@allrite @MattHatton @ThermiteBeGiants @futzle it's not bad practise if it's the difference between "writing something" and "never writing anything".

@mike @allrite @ThermiteBeGiants @futzle No argument here on that front.

Just from personal (and repeated) experience, it's fucking demoralising when something glitches and you lose what you were just about finished with.

Just less likely to occur if you do the writing bit away from the CMS.

@MattHatton @mike @ThermiteBeGiants @futzle It has happened to me.

  1. The app does save a local copy, which doesn't always sync properly. Sometimes you need to cut and paste.

  1. Leave versioning on, despite what the performance freaks tell you.
