Maybe we need #SocialWebFoundation ambassadors to go beyond social media and talk directly with the big names who aren't yet behind #ActivityPub. Ideally publicly. Cause the information and opinions are coming from somewhere else and they might be trustworthy or not, but what people mostly see on those platforms is what is most likely to entertain them. incentives are key on social media.
a "real person" on social media doesn't intentionally share misinfo. they will do so accidentally but not too often. we all accidentally sometimes share bad info with our friends & family. but if we hear of something questionable from somebody IRL, we check it and hopefully tell them but definitely don't spread it. the increased speed of debunking makes up for the speed of sharing online.
trolls, influencers, activism. consider what the accounts really want.

some kind of #FactChecking seems like the least you can do if you're a billionaire cause you run a service that uses algos to find whatever posts from anywhere that get the greatest emotional response and bombard your users with them.
if you're so directly helping to spread any info, your moral responsibility is to try hard to ensure you're not misleading them, cause bad info can lead people trying to do good to cause unnecessary harm in the world.
