some kind of #FactChecking seems like the least you can do if you're a billionaire cause you run a service that uses algos to find whatever posts from anywhere that get the greatest emotional response and bombard your users with them.
if you're so directly helping to spread any info, your moral responsibility is to try hard to ensure you're not misleading them, cause bad info can lead people trying to do good to cause unnecessary harm in the world.
otherwise is nobody responsible at any level?

and when you "fact check" people, and censor their position, then 6 months later everyone in the world learns that the original poster's position was correct, then how will you correct the censorship that suppressed the Truth retroactively? This is precisely what happened with Facebook and the covid hoax and Facebook and the covid vax hoax. Is censorship, blacklisting, and shadowbanning people the moral response? Or are censorship, blacklisting, and shadowbanning inherently evil in themselves? Explain how pursuing Evil is actually Good in this instance? In any instance. Sounds like a Tyrant trying to ex post facto explain how their Evil Deeds are actually Good for everyone. And in case you were wondering.... there has never been an instance in world history where the censoring tyrant was the Good Guy. Ever.

if you're using an algo based system, they get to decide what people see. what we should all be doing is trying to get everyone off of them and onto systems where individuals have as much equal say over what goes viral.

I just wonder if NYT will do the fact checking they did in 2016.
