The web is a free speech technology. It drastically lowers the barrier for anybody to make a message accessible to the whole world, but that never meant your site would be seen.
Social media is the technology to democratize reach. Without being famous or paying for advertising, your message can now truly earn instant worldwide attention.
If the latter is ever seen as culturally vital as the former, I can't see how we let it continue to be dominated by a few corporate algorithms. #SocialWeb
