So it seems a lot of my friends are joining #bluesky. I don't want to do that cause Mastodon is already giving me what i'm looking for, social media content wise. However it would be nice if i could connect with some of them. I read about the possibility of "bridging" the 2 platforms. I followed some steps that I found online about bridging my profile here on Mastodon into bluesky and succeeded in "duplicating" it there.

My question is: how do i connect with them from #Mastodon? Do i have to follow them? If yes, how do you do that? And how can they find me on bluesky and connect with me, without me having to use bluesky at all?

Any helps or leads would be very much appreciated.

question:

is there a reason as to why certain words on the UI of tusky phone are different than the official mastodon desktop UI? eg: why does tusky use "unlisted" instead of "quiet public" as an audience option?

i ask this because, i think, this is one of the reasons why some of my friends found mastodon network "hard" to use, and instead are opting for bluesky, which is a real pity. Stuff like this confuses a a lot of people., Seems like everyone got too coddled by FB and twitter - things need to be as easy as possible for everyone. Thanks in advance!

So being illiterate in technology and a newbie to Mastodon, I am finding the concepts on how the #fediverse works fascinating and intriguing. Yesterday i spent a long time browsing @fedi.tips and came across this

I found this quite concerning, especially now during a time where there is a mass exodus of people from twitter and Facebook and Instagram. Are all these people logging onto mastodon.social ? Two of my friends who joined yesterday, joined on that server, because of course it's much easier when it's presented to you on the front page of joinmastodon.com

Is there something that can be done to address this issue and save Mastodon from ever being sold? And if yes, i imagine people are working on it?

Asking a question into the #fediverse hoping for a clear answer :)

so i have just discovered the concept of "'#groups" on #mastodon - i understand that when you tag the group with "@" all the people who are subscribed to that group will get the message. How can i make sure that I share that post ONLY to members of that group? Which audience option do i have to choose so that the post is NOT SEEN by others OUTSIDE of the group?

Hey im back again on a new account since i couldn't remember the old password, and also am halfway there out of #facebook.  Ive had #mastodon for some time now but for some reason i always stop coming in here...

 Is there a way to make mastodon easier to use in a way to get more people on it, without sacrificing it's ethos and principles? Because i think th biggest problem stems from the simple fact that there are not enough ppl on it yet..
