Toot

Asking a question into the #fediverse hoping for a clear answer :)

so i have just discovered the concept of "'#groups" on #mastodon - i understand that when you tag the group with "@" all the people who are subscribed to that group will get the message. How can i make sure that I share that post ONLY to members of that group? Which audience option do i have to choose so that the post is NOT SEEN by others OUTSIDE of the group?

@Ungrimironfist As far as I'm aware that's not a feature of groups, they're more for helping people communicate on niche topics or from smaller servers.

@Ungrimironfist groups are not so much a feature of mastodon as something that's tacked on using bots. The way it works is that you can mention the group in any message and the group bot boosts any message it is mentioned in. As a result of this you can't achieve what you want since private messages cannot be boosted.

I would also like something like what you mention though, like circles on google+.
