Me mate found this next to a skip. The sensible woman doesn't do social media, but it comes from 1939. Where might she get it valued or anyone have ideas what she should do with it? Feel free to suggest hashtags too, I'm at a bit of a loss.

So, #gardening in south Germany. Where do we stand with coffee for hot composting? Obviously it's good for vermiculture. I can get a lot of grounds from my local bakery, but I'm doubting the idea now. I know that worms love an old coffee filter, but how about thermophilic bacteria? Any experience/scientific knowledge? Teach me senseis.

I made a basket out of pulled up Virginia Creeper. Because I don't have enough to do in the garden, no siree.

Since I just upgraded from balcony to allotment, here is a question: if you are #gardening in the soil (not containers) what do you wish you knew when you started out?

Edit: south Germany, (-5° to 40°) sandy soil

[#]compost -ers, a question: I currently have a lot of ivy and brambles that I'm scared of putting in the compost lest after spreading the compost I find them coming up everywhere. As I know both of them are super invasive.
Would it be safe to let it all dry out thoroughly in the sun to kill it before adding to the compost, or better to take it to the dump or somewhere far from my garden?

[#]gardening -ers, there's a really cool tool for getting deep roots like brambles out, it's got a long handle, a J shape about the size of a half basketball with a blade on the inside and a kind of tiny spade on the end of the hook. You could stab into the ground behind the root then rotate to get the hook under the root then pull and the roots came up lovely.
What's it called?
Can you help? Also boost please. Much obliged!

Hey Nikki, I looked for quantum witch on steam but it seemed not available to play yet. How do I get into beta testing or whatever it takes to play it? :D

Here, gentles all, is a slime mold I found on my balcony. I haven't seen one for a couple of years but there used to be quite a lot of it. Slime molds are super cool, not plants or animals but single cell organisms that are usually spread out but come together when times get hard to look for food or reproduce. Although they don't have organs as such and are just a homogenous blob inside, the blob can actually move around in a limited fashion. 1/

The location is really beautiful and if I owned some prime real estate with those views I absolutely would build a castle on it if I had the money. What I don't really understand is building it in x historical style. Like "mediaeval style. Yeah it's not actually mediaeval and I'm not going to pretend it's even historically accurate, but I'm still going to call it mediaeval". Anyone can do what they like of course but I don't get it at all. 2/2

Visited Schloss Lichtenstein yesterday (south Germany, nowhere near Lichtenstein). Beautiful day, beautiful and precipitous scenery, with a great crowd. Well worth the long drive to get there. We were there before in knee deep snow but this is the first time I was actually inside. It's 19th century, supposed to be "romantic mediaeval style" whatever that means, but along the cliff are the real ruins of the original 12c fort, and the climb is a lot of fun. 1/2

I, at 40 years old, tidied the kitchen instead of picking up the steam deck while the food was cooking. I am proud of that, sad as that pride may be.
