I have for years now been trying to limit my exposure to US electoral politics, particularly on social media. There was a brief point in my life where John Oliver, and Stephen Colbert, and the NYT and the Guardian regularly came across my feeds and I would engage, but now my political philosophy is well formed. I know I am never supporting a Republican; I will research relevant candidates in local races and primaries, but I know what I stand for and I do not need the annihilation that American politics has devolved into to be delivered directly over the air into my eyeballs at the speed of light.
Knowing horrible things about horrible people will not make my vote magically count more, nor will it help me better support my friends who are also struggling to get through these dark times.
All I can do is be the best person I can be. And have some faith, however naive, that if we stick to our values, and to our commitment to each other that we can still build a better future.

I have a couple of old UPSes, that I brought back from my parent's house, that I had installed Nermak LiFePo4 12V batteries in. They worked fine for short outages but my parents had a couple day outage a while ago and the UPSes never came back online after that. It seems like what happened was the Nermak batteries got depleted, so their BMS shut them off to prevent over discharge, but the UPSes refused to charge them or come back online because when they don't detect a battery voltage above a certain amount they assume that the battery has failed or is not installed and won't start.
Got the batteries charging back up on my bench supply for now and it seems like they will come back, but any idea how to prevent a failure like this happening in the future?

Related: if you have any openings for a junior/new grad engineer working on PCBs/embedded hardware in the Boston (or I guess other blue) area that you don't need filled for about another year (I'm working on my master's degree in parallel with my bachelor's rn and I will need an extra semester to finish my thesis)
I have experience in Altium, KiCAD, and Eagle, with mixed signal design, embedded micro processors, and some limited RF experience.
And if you let me know I can DM you my resume with more details.
I will probably repost something like this in early summer when my actual graduation is closer. I know this is probably pretty far to be looking

I love Cleveland. I think it's a cute little city, with lots of good food and art and culture. I think there are advantages to staying near my university after school.
I think the cost of living compared to other US cities is appealing.
And my BF and I have lots of friends who are planning to stay in NEO.
I also was expecting the election in Ohio to go very differently. I was expecting the Ohio Senate race to closer and ideally go blue, I was expecting issue 1 to pass which would have provided hope of the state government improving over the coming years, and of course on the national level I was expecting Kamala to be our next president.
I thought America had done the great MAGA experiment of 2016 and were ready to move on from that disaster.
Starting to seriously think about trying to get to a blue state, applying to jobs in the Boston area.
It's tragic because my BF already accepted a job offer in NEO but he said he's willing to try to make it work. We'll see

BF and I went to a crazy local art festival. 300,000 square feet of former industrial space converted to exhibits and events.
We were there for 4 hours last night and feel like we only just scratched the surface.
Saw one fursuiter in passing. BF didn't bring his suit because we didn't know what to expect

My BF Peake just finished making his full suit and to celebrate wore it to all hands meeting at his job.
(He works at a cool makerspace and built most of his suit there so most of his coworkers already had seen parts of it. A couple of them helped us with his duck tape dummy)

Anyone have a copy of the source (and ideally a variety of binaries across platforms) for Yazu and/or Citra they would be willing to share.
I am sure they are out there somewhere and will keep popping up but I would love to get a local copy of it.

Fuck my stupid landlord. A few weeks ago, right before I found out about the foreclosure, he said he would renew the lease. Now he leaves this BS and won't return my calls. And I have no idea what he has to gain from this, he probably won't even own the stupid apartment by the end of March.

The HOA is foreclosing on my landlord 😭
He owes them $45k
No idea what that means for me and being able to stay in the apartment.
Wish me luck I guess.

Last weekend my dad visited. Over dinner I brought up my increasing involvement in the fandom and said that my BF, Peake, and I were basically dating and I wouldn't be surprised if we made it official soon.
I thought it went pretty well. My dad was accepting. He was interested and asked a lot of good questions. He can be a little academic and detached and go off on a tangent to subjects of academic interest to him but overall I was very happy with his response.
Saturday night Peake and I went to a fur meet and then a furry night at a gay bar and on the way home we decided to make it official.
I called my mom twice yesterday and wanted to tell her both times. I had told her about my brief and dispassionate relationship with a girl last year and she had been very happy that I was finally dating and I wanted to just treat this the same way, and not have some big coming out.
But I just couldn't.
