The HOA is foreclosing on my landlord 😭

He owes them $45k

No idea what that means for me and being able to stay in the apartment.

Wish me luck I guess.

Fuck my stupid landlord. A few weeks ago, right before I found out about the foreclosure, he said he would renew the lease. Now he leaves this BS and won't return my calls. And I have no idea what he has to gain from this, he probably won't even own the stupid apartment by the end of March.

@devkitsune Honest question here...if the bank is foreclosing on the property, can the landlord even proceed with evictions once that takes place? Like, it strikes me that they're in enough of a pickle themselves that all you'd have to do is "wait out the clock" per se until they're out of the picture.

But I'm not a lawyer so idfk

@silvereagle that's honestly my thought as well. To the point where I was like "should I ask a lawyer to confirm this"

I decided to ask the HOA, who are the ones foreclosing (so would in theory be the new landlord if they win the foreclosure) and the HOA person I spoke with said she would speak with their attorney tomorrow and get back to me.

So we will see what they say.

I really am so done with this landlord. Always paid rent on time. He hasn't paid any of his bills for the apartment, and it took a ton of chasing down to reach an agreement over the broken AC this summer. At least the HOA is polite and responsive. Honestly ideal situation is I get to renew my lease and then the HOA owns the unit and honors the lease but they have made it clear that wouldn't work long term. They want to sell to settle the debt and not be landlords.

@devkitsune @silvereagle That document absolutely reeks of manufactured consent. One rarely if ever sees language like "asks" in documents with any kind of enforceability. IANAL but xe would be willing to bet that this document is nothing but misrepresentation.
