Day 3

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty. I love this author (if you're not into books, check out the TV adaptations) The story starts with what if a stranger told you exactly how and when you would die? How would it change your life and your choices from there, it follows the lives of a few people after they receive this unsettling fortune. Perfect mix of humor and heart, it’s a bit long but it keeps good company and is totally worth the read.

If you're into stand-up or podcasts and want something to lighten your day, I've got you covered. Stavros Halkias is the best! If you're a native English speaker, you're lucky.( Also as Greek living in the UK, it's tough for me because I grew up hearing with American English. And it's hard to be funny or curse when you have to translate in your mind first. )Anyway, if you want to learn some Greek curses, πŸ˜‚ the first few minutes of the podcast will give you an idea.

Day 2

We lived a brief moment of body positivity, and the oh well, skinny is back! Ozempic! If you're dealing with eating disorders or other struggles, this book deserves a read. Note, it's not easy reading. Roxane Gay shares her life in this memoir, touching on mental health, obesity, trauma, and rape culture, tough subjects, but she’s so strong and offers such deep insight at the same time.

Day 1

The book explores sensitive topics like trauma, PTSD, and mental health in general. Though it's now over ten years old, and thankfully we've made progress in these areas, it's still a valuable read.

The Body Keeps the Score Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma - Bessel van der Kolk

First post of 2025, and it's Blue Monday! Feels like a half-and-half day.

πŸ“Œ I finished my first book of the year, We Solve Murder, meh. The author seems to have ADHD but also gives off a bit of a boomer vibe.

πŸ“Œ Enjoying my favorite candles in a clean house.

πŸ“Œ My plants are still going strong, which gives me a sense of hope.

Spent my Sunday baking our (Greek) Christmas cookies, and now the house is filled with the sweet scents of the holidays, honey, warm spices, and all the cozy vibes. The white ones dusted with powdered sugar are shortbread, but with a twist (roasted almonds). The others have a juicy syrup filling, crispy on the outside, and topped with walnuts.

Let the magic of the season begin! ✨

Lately, my mental health has taken a bit of a downhill turn, and my anxiety attacks are back. But this hashtag kind of helps me see the positive and find some light, both for others and for myself. It’s the small things, one step at a time, right?

So here are my #3goodthings:

πŸ“Œ I’m alone for a couple of days and deep-cleaned the house.

πŸ“Œ I made myself a comforting brunch and enjoyed it while chatting with my best friend.

πŸ“Œ I got some unexpected and thoughtful gifts.

πŸ“Œ Slept 7 hours straight. No nightmares! Who knew that was even possible? Forgot what real rest felt like.

πŸ“Œ Took a long walk in perfect weather! sunny and cold, just how I like it.

πŸ“Œ Made apple pancakes for dinner and caught up on the new Cobra Kai episodes.

Enjoy the mince pie! Do you warm it up? Which brand is your favorite? I’ve been in the UK for years but have only had mince pies twice, both times just straight from the box! I should definitely try warming them up next time.

How do you serve tea? I usually offer black tea, sugar, milk, and serve in a teapot with a milk jug and sugar bowl. What about biscuits? Do you mix them up or stick to one kind? I always have Oreos, Biscoff, chocolate cookies. Would you go for shortbread or Bakewell tarts?

Happy Friday, friends! ✨

It’s almost noon, and it’s still foggy and dark outside. I love this weather and this time of year in the UK. Foggy, misty, and dark. Strong coffee and burning all my candles.
