Lately, my mental health has taken a bit of a downhill turn, and my anxiety attacks are back. But this hashtag kind of helps me see the positive and find some light, both for others and for myself. Itโs the small things, one step at a time, right?
So here are my #3goodthings:
๐ Iโm alone for a couple of days and deep-cleaned the house.
๐ I made myself a comforting brunch and enjoyed it while chatting with my best friend.
๐ I got some unexpected and thoughtful gifts.

@elizach Good strategies. I empathise, also a sufferer of the disability that is unseen. For me, super careful at this time of year, #SAD+ & cyclomania, (anxiety and depression in its Mode 1). Strategies and proper meds work!

@Palky55 Thanks for sharing, David! I had to look up some of what you mentioned learned a few new things, and itโs another reason to love Mastodon, connecting with such thoughtful people.

@elizach Thank you. I believe that fundamentally most people are caring and sharing. Sometimes hard though with the way of the world these days. however, "the light will never be swamped by the dark", ๐๐ฝโค๏ธโ๐ฅ

@axelrafn That sounds amazing! Diving into learning more is such a great idea!!! Iโm actually thinking tomorrow might be a good day to do something similar! Letโs motivate each other. And Iโm SO SO happy to hear you're feeling calm for the first time in so long. Thatโs huge! ๐

@elizach its definitely challenging when the anxiety dial gets turned up. Hopefully you find some ways to turn that dial down again. I also love #3GoodThings.
Itโs only the start of the day here but already Iโve been outside to water the garden before the day gets too hot (due to be 31 deg C) and about to bake a fresh loaf of bread.

@leahmac Thanks for your kind words Leah, they mean a lot! โจ Iโm in the UK, so itโs almost 8.30pm here, bedtime soon ๐ . I love your morning. Taking care of the garden is so uplifting, and baking is such an immediate stress reliever. The moment hands touch the dough boom, magic! And the smell of fresh bread filling the house is such a huge comfort, it really warms the heart and soul.

@elizach you are right about that dough magic. I hope you have a restful nightโs sleep and more good things across the weekend.

@elizach It's similar for me here. Reading through #3GoodThings posts, and composing my own, helps me step out of the anxiety spiral for a few minutes and reset.

Hoping you find peace.

@elizach The three good things post definitely helps me.
Do you find you feel worse this time of year?
This time of year up until about March is always worse for me. I've never been officially diagnosed, but I think I suffer with SAD as most days I don't even want to get out of bed (and if I don't have to I won't) I definitely snap at people more as well when I don't intend to ๐ฌ

@justkat I donโt think the darker months are necessarily worse for me, but I definitely experience bigger ups and downs and get triggered more easily. If that helps at all, I've found that taking Vitamin D during these months really makes a difference. As a Greek living in the UK, I can really feel it when I forget to take my extra Vitamin D along with my other vitamins. Itโs amazing how much that can help, especially with the lack of sunlight!

@elizach oh that's interesting. I take multi-vitamins daily. I assume Vitamin D is packed in there already, but I don't know how much and whether I'd be allowed to take any more? ๐ค
Have you ever tried magnesium glycinate? I keep being recommended it as it supposedly helps with anxiety (and sleep among other things) Not tried it myself yet though.
