Often it's hard to tell just how windy it is when you're cycling with a tailwind, but a good indicator is how grim the cyclists who are coming towards you in the opposite direction are looking.
On the way up the coast I looked very much like Nicholson here, but coming home I looked like one of those North Sea fisherman struggling in a storm in the middle of the night as black waves crash against the mast and wash everything off the deck.

I think when we become really committed to accomplishing something, rather than merely being interested in it, all our processes self-organise around it. So there is something like an irresistable rush of energy and resources toward it. There's a point of no return, similar to what we experience right before the moment of orgasm.
It can't be consciously determined. Consciousness is a component of it, but you can't simply order all of your natural resources to go in a particular direction. So manifesting really large results takes a lot of self-understanding.
