Laws are useless if lawyers and judges are able to just hallucinate any justification for not doing the right thing.

So I have an #Obsidian folder that I want to edit both on my #Linux PC and my phone and I wanna keep them in sync. I do not want to use any cloud services, but rather synchronize them at distinct times when I leave with my phone or come back home.

So far I've been paranoid about general syncing programs breaking the state of the vault or destroying changes inadvertently, and have been using git to push changes between the two folders. Is there a better solution than using git, that still guarantees that I will never lose changes or get into weird inconsistent states?

One realization I've just had is that when a scene is described in just a handful of words, players can imagine so much more to it than is initially revealed about it. Objects that the GM didn't think of, but are plausible to be there, can just suddenly exist at any moment and help make the story richer.

In contrast as soon as you introduce any kind of map, it feels like you are "collapsing" the scene to one very strictly defined state that feels difficult to escape from. Instead of imagining what COULD be there you only look at the very narrow slice of what IS in front of your eyes.

Other than just being too lazy to make maps every session, I genuinely wonder if they might be just inherently an obstacle to the imaginary nature of the game.

Did anyone ever GM a funeral? Do tell me about it, I might be running one for an NPC soon and am interested to hear stories.

When I first started GMing, I used to be big into making complex maps and automating dice rolls with macros and all that kinda gimmicky stuff. Back then I felt like that was just how you played #TTRPG s online.

But picking up GMing again WITHOUT all that, has been honestly kinda liberating. It's so much less fiddling with complicated techncial processes, that ultimately don't matter and even get in the way of a fun session.

I've been able to focus much more on interesting narrative aspects of the game, than the particularities of in what square grid exactly you can take cover behind, and if all my pointless buttons work.

[#]SavageWorlds being a system with much lower book keeping certainly helps too haha.

For some reason, I have the best ideas for my #TTRPG campaign when I am trying to sleep and not at my PC, where I could note them down. A lot of my mornings are basically rushing to my desk and making lots of notes before I forget too much :scaredycat:.

After so many years of not playing a #TTRPG I have finally managed to get a handful people together again :ablobcatattention:.

Gonna be running #SavageWorlds for the first time ever, and it feels like the kinda system I've always wanted haha. For now I'm furiously writing world notes and lore and I feel like I've never been quite as motivated to do something as I am right now. :ablobcatbongogoogly:

Uhh, does anyone know if setting Quaternions for 3D rotations is just broken in #Godot ?

This specific one (alongside others) seems to not correctly work, regardless of if I set it through C++ or GDScript

Quaternion(-0.701057, 0.092296, 0.092296, 0.701057)

It should do a 90 degree turn forward and then 15 degrees to the side, but the second step just doesn't happen. Did I find a bug?

The EU intitiative of #StopKillingGames to stop game publishers from bricking online games after selling them to you still is short on signatures. Enough thresholds in EU member countries have been reached already, now it's all about getting enough signatures to reach one million.

It still needs a big push, so spread the word!

So the #BlueSky feed feature is pretty cool. I use it mainly to have different categories of hashtags to browse, depending on my mood. Would be cool if #Mastodon had something similar honestly. Hashtags are like my primary way of discovering new posts and people, but over here I can only follow them as one big firehose feed, which is a bit of a shame.

Well I had one job application actually result in an interview within 24 hours. It seemed to go pretty well and I left with a good feeling. Couple days later I got the mail that I didn't make it.

It would've been a pretty damn sweet position, I'm feeling pretty bad that it didn't end up working, but It's the furthest I've gotten I suppose. I'm not sure that it feels like much of a silver lining :kitten_sad:.

One of my pet peeves is """security features""" that cannot ever be opted out of, because some software author thought they know better than you.

Been trying to set up SSH with key authentication. If the private key file's permissions aren't EXCLUSIVELY set to only the owning user, then SSH won't let you use your key.

Problem is ... I can't change permissions of individual files on this file system and you cannot disable this check. In the end I had to enable password auth again lmao.
