Attention UK mastodontists.

I am looking for the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography entry for “Church, Richard Thomas (1893–1972), poet and writer.”

As a foreigner I can get access for £29 a month. UK residents with a library card can get free access. I am only interested in his bio.

If anyone is willing, I would appreciate some research support. :)

Ok #francophones, I’m crowdsourcing recommendations for French language tv shows in the following categories:

• Sitcoms: workplace comedies, telenovelas
• Reality tv: maybe with a travel or talent focus
• Animated, but not for kids.
• Police shows.
• Any history shows? Revolution? Resistance? Colonial history?

I do know about Lupin, Tintin, and Un gars, Une fille. The ideal would be a French language Brooklyn 99. Fred Vargas meets Archer. 30 mins episodes.

When Billionaires want to “get political power,” they get it. I’m from Illinois where the last two governors were billionaires. I mean, I don’t have anything against JB Pritzker, but if he wasn’t a billionaire, he would never be governor. And if he were a Musk-level fucko, the state would be screwed. How screwed? Think if George Ryan and Ron Blagojevitch had a baby and named it Jeffrey Dahmer.

It took most of 2024, but I went from “I know some French words, but it’s mostly a big jumble” to “I can get the gist of some sentences through context clues and educated guesses.”

It turns out that concentrating on frequently used words is really helpful. So are progressive drills.
