A note for my Louisiana / Southern US people who are in the freeze:
You probably know you need to drip your faucets to stop your pipes from freezing. What you might not have thought about: you should drip both the cold AND hot sides of your sink.
Makes sense, right? There are separate pipes in and out of the water heater. Also, down here, a lot of us have water heaters outside of the conditioned space of the house. I find that the articles often leave it out, and we don't get a lot of practice

I've said this before, but: one of the things I like about being an independent consultant is that there's no illusion about the relationship between me and my clients. I sell them my time and expertise. This is fundamentally the same as the labor relationship of employment, but no one is blowing smoke up anyone's skirt about "loyalty" or "family" or whatever.

A lot of the American freakout about China comes down to (1) anxiety that America may not be "top of the pecking order" anymore and (2) knowing of how America treated everyone else when they were "top of the pecking order."
