Looking forwards to having a hard copy of collective work regardless of being rejected by photography book publishers.

Yes, self-publishing is a route I can take however I need to become far, far, far more competent with bookmaking and indeed need to do much more experimenting with photograph placement within said books.

I simply cannot do this digitally, it has to be hands on.

There will be a few copies of each dummy being made up, one set will be being sent to a renowned British photobook collector as a thank you for his advice and assistance.

I will also be getting each photograph printed on archival paper, individually wrapped in an acid free photo sleeve and collectively kept in a folio box. These are for portfolio reviews at places such as The Photographer's Gallery in London.

I've contacted Taylor Brothers in Bristol to query their stock of unbleached/natural paper for printing off my folio pages. Will be creating the dummies myself, have made some books before, darned rough-around-the-edges ones, and wish to increase my skill with hands-on bookmaking.

Well now, there are two dummy books' worth of, mostly, sequenced 90's/early 00's photography upstairs. Took Stephen King's influenced advice of "𝘒𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘣𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘨𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘳’𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴" to heart and removed my emotional attachment to the photos, which was harder than I care to admit.

Still some issues with the flow of the second one however it's progressing nicely.

There's a pronounced drop in engagement with Photography on Mastodon/Fedi as well, it peaked and dropped off very quickly in 2022 which is great shame. I guess some have gone back to X and others onto Threads, or both, I don't know.

A fedi statistic stated there were over 16m accounts on the Fediverse, yet only 1m posting regularly. That's rather sad, this place (being on Mastodon) is wonderful and incredibly diverse.

I've been using a Heath & Hind leather strap with my Pentax 67 and just haven't got on with it, it tangles really easily and is a faff to sort out. It's a really well made strap too which is a shame. Going to get a Peak Design 'Slider' for it instead as I'm impressed with their 'Slider Lite' version on my 35mm camera.

You think you're out of the way and alone..... set up a MF camera, tripod, focus, grab the lightmeter and everything, turn around and there's three other folk with digital cameras waiting to take a similar shot but using their flash which takes all the emotion out of the scene, urgh!

Two contemporary photographers who capture America so wonderfully: #BryanSchutmaat and #MikeBrodie.

Both have new books coming out shortly, Schutmaat with his own publishing house Trespasser and Brodie with Twin Palms.

An honourable mention is also going out to #MarkMcLennan too whose beautiful 'No Fences' is due to be published by Stanley Barker.
