Yet another reason to take battery-farmed #salmon #OffTheTable...

How does a planktonic species travel against the general flow of ocean currents?

Were they instead carried here in the cargoes of live salmon on ships from Norwegian sites?

The toxic #salmon industry, not content with trashing our seas and economy, is its own worst enemy.

And that's it.

I joined Twitter over ten years ago (2012? 2013?) but today, in common with many others who see the natural environment as playing a significant part in all our lives, I have deactivated my Twitter accounts; in 30 days they will be as dust.

I did this as a result of the behaviour of Elon Musk; a person who I feel shares the ethics of the child which amuses itself by pulling the legs from living insects; a person who curries favour by splashing his ill-gotten wealth around.

Crepuscular.

Lovely word, I think.

Right up there with petrichor, but less fragrant.

Now, back to work, you loafers!

As loud as is necessary... 😉

Sometimes, one receives a gesture that lends vindication to years of maintaining the truth; that others were at fault, who have now admitted their guilt.

For several years, my wife & I ran, quite successfully, a small shop & post office in Scotland; our efforts were recognised by the community, but destroyed by HBoS and the Post Office.

Today we received a payment from POCL; inadequate recompense for the losses we endured, but providing us with some small degree of satisfaction - and closure.

Today I upgraded my hifi system by replacing the old amplifier with...

...a just as old amplifier; the larger, louder, more beknobbed sibling of the first model.

This gear dates from the last century, does (or can be persuaded to do) everything I need it to do, is built like (and resembles) a brick outhouse, ties in with the reduce/reuse/recycle thing, and can be acquired for what a Yorkshireman thinks is almost a fair price.

And to my tin ear, sounds reasonable too. 😉

I found this jack snipe while walking Sandy the deaf BC this morning; I suspect it was a victim of the recent very cold weather.

This wasn't far from the shore; I normally see these birds much higher up the hills.

Does anyone have any idea why that champion of free speech & historical accuracy, Elon Muskrat, might object to the following comment on the Orange Tyrant's intentions being posted on Twitter?

"A Canadian friend of mine pointed out that last time the #US tried this, #Canada burned the White House..."

We are told that, on occasions where great harm was imposed on, or threatened to, many people by one evil individual, even the Buddha resorted to an act of extreme violence so that suffering was reduced in the world.

Is the tide turning against cage-grown #salmon? Chefs from Cornwall to Shetland who care what they cook and serve are choosing other options.

If you're still serving farmed salmon, please: take it #OffTheTable.

"The battery chicken of the sea"; and yet wild #salmon are predators that should be thriving in the Ocean, in our coastal waters and in our rivers.

Get it #OffTheTable.

The sun had set at 1600 today; that's about 30 minutes before I took this photograph. There's a bright afterglow from the southwest as the clouds move in from the Atlantic, bringing the forecast rain - and snow further south. In the darker area of the sky to the left of the shot, the crescent moon can be seen above Scarba; just above and to the right of the moon is Venus.
