I wrote a whole thing (now deleted since it isn't important) about how, last week, I really needed to print something but every single printer I tried refused to work.

Except the one in the library. It. Just. Worked.

Libraries are amazing places.

Flying back to Iceland to meet friends and family over the holidays and glancing at the Met-office's webpage it doesn't disappoint!

Out of curiosity (and a longing for my home directory to be less cluttered) would anyone know if there are environment variables that can guide Android Studio to where these APK analysis project files should be placed?

Perhaps @tornorbye knows?

In this household we were very late to the whole adult advent calendar thing, but finally got ourselves one with coffee from 24 different producers☕

Most of the Android crowd seems to have up and left Mastodon in favour of Bluesky, which means it'll be necessary to keep at least one eye on it from time to time.

But man, after being here for a couple of years BS just feels way too noisy and chaotic!

"The Decaf Project", probably the only such large scale taste test that will ever be done with decaf coffee beans is underway, and is quickly selling out:

"It is useless to attempt to reason a person out of what they were never reasoned into", to paraphrase the quote.

Perhaps, given what polarising event is happening in the next 48 hours, this is worth keeping in mind.

One of the more heartwarming gaming stories I've heard was about a friend’s parents, who are far from being your 'stereotypical gamers'.

They discovered C&C Red Alert back in the '90s and for decades played LAN matches against one another. They never moved on to other games, sticking only with that one game. And occasionally, my friend would join in, and get completely wrecked by his parents (his words).

Sadly, as one of them passed away some years back, the LAN matches have stopped.

Watching #TheAndroidShow from yesterday, and these Gemini test journeys are interesting.

But how reliable are they? How many false positives/negatives will they generate?

Or is the calculation simply that dealing with some number of incorrect results is better than the cost/effort of maintaining espresso tests?

So while making ADB-helper I tested the functionality on the various applications on my phone, and actually discovered three separate vulnerabilities in as many applications along the way.

One was a misconfigured exposed Content Provider that leaked private data (others were misconfigured deep links that circumvented lock screens).

All three companies were notified, and all three actually paid out bounties for the finds. Which was fun.
