Working on a new programming language called "sus".

All the error messages will be like, "I don't know how I feel about that missing semicolon."

So with Proton becoming questionable. What's a good VPN that's not a US company or not otherwise based in the US?

I wonder just how hard it would be to write a garbage collector in 65816 assembly language. (obviously need a heap allocator too.)

Hi @mos_8502 - just curious in your work with the Circle library, did you ever try to get things running under QEMU?

Trying to figure out if QEMU can properly emulate a raspberry pi or if it's still a uses the versitile pb machine instead kind of thing. (Want actual framebuffer emulation.)

Selling off all the stuff you don't want gets a lot more complicated when you realize that a lot of that stuff needs some kind of preparation, even refurbishing to be sold.

The progression is:

Funny how the EFF and FSF both turned out to be kind of shitty, really.

Some days, I kind of wonder what exactly IntelliJ is buying me that I don't already get in VSCode.

I mean, yeah, there's a ton of really good refactoring tools, and other stuff, but day to day, VSCode is less of a pain to use. The UI is faster, and more languages are supported out of the box.

I can't even get a decent org-mode plugin for IntelliJ, which is what I take notes in. Markdown just doesn't do it for me.

So, it's ok on Meta now to call someone mentally ill for being trans, but not for believing in an invisible vengeful Santa Claus?

Question for #cooking mavens in the Fediverse:

I like to make fajitas on the stove, and in this case, fajita means "lightly stir fried onions, bell peppers, steak, and (powdered) red pepper, garlic, and cumin." Followed by heating a tortilla up in the same pan after getting the filling stuff out.

Problem is... the red pepper causes my wife a bit of temporary respiratory problems, mainly coughing.

Is there a good way to use the red pepper without atomizing it? I also put hot sauce on the fajita after it's out and on my plate, but that's a very different flavor from the red pepper, and I kind of like both.

It's kind of funny how what we do with computers has remained more or less static.

People use spreadsheets, they use word processors. Now, they do a lot of stuff on the web.

But overall, progress has been window dressing of one form or another, no real new things, unless you count AI, which is pretty recent. https://infosec.exchange/@popio/113756887500481422

Possibly unpopular opinions about Nightwish:

  1. Floor Jansen is the best singer overall because she can cover both the opera-inspired songs originally recorded by Tarja and the pop-metal songs originally recorded by Annette Olson.

  1. With a few exceptions, the best songs that band has made come from Annette Olson's time. All of their songs are pretty damn good though, no matter which vocalist was involved at the time.

Confluence has what is possibly the worst document editing in the history of words.

Just let me easily import/export markdown. Jira allows markdown in comments, so it's not like Atlassian doesn't know anything about it.

Prediction: We do eventually get Medicare for All, but it's a privatized Medicare Advantage for All instead. (I wouldn't be surprised at all if we get this in the next 4 years.)

Politicians will declare victory, but healthcare and financial outcomes will still suck for everyone who isn't already rich.

Don’t get too excited about the DOJ forcing Google to sell Chrome or de-bundle Android. I remember when they had MicroSoft on the ropes, and then the GWB administration came in a scuttled the whole thing.

Too little, too late.

Been seeing a ton of posts on Reddit lately that are some variation on “I have this device that expects 220v, but I moved to the US. Shouldn’t it still work at half the normal efficiency?”

Voltage isn’t octane, of course that’s not going to work.
